Set in the Mpumalanga Lowveld near Hazyview, Rissington Inn is a peaceful country retreat surrounded by lush gardens and views across the valley. Just 10 minutes from Kruger National Park's Phabeni Gate, its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the area’s wildlife and scenery, while its relaxed character gives it a distinctly homely feel.
Rooms and suites are scattered throughout the gardens, each with its own design and private outdoor space. Spend the day exploring Kruger or following the Panorama Route, then return for a swim, a walk through the grounds or a game of croquet. Birding and small-mammal spotting around the property provide quieter ways to enjoy the Lowveld without heading far.
Rissington Inn suits couples, families and travellers looking for an informal base from which to explore Mpumalanga. Its position makes it easy to combine a Kruger safari with the Panorama Route, including God’s Window and the Blyde River Canyon, while the range of room types makes it a great choice for groups travelling together.

Superior-Doppelzimmer
The Superior Rooms are more spacious, with private verandahs overlooking the valley and individually styled interiors. Some are set beneath the thatch of a former tobacco barn, while others feature Victorian baths or double showers. Hammocks or daybeds provide an inviting place to sit outside and enjoy the gardens.
Garden Double Suite
Set among the gardens, the Garden Suites have private verandahs with views down the valley. Walled outdoor showers and Victorian baths add character, while hammocks or daybeds make the most of the leafy surroundings.
Budget Room
The Budget Rooms are comfortable and simply styled, with queen-size beds, en-suite bathrooms and private verandahs overlooking the gardens. Air-conditioning, ceiling fans, a bar fridge, Nespresso machine and tea and coffee facilities make it easy to settle in, while the private entrance gives each room its own space.
Hillside Suite
The Hillside Suites are designed for families and groups travelling together, with two en-suite bedrooms, a spacious sitting room, large stoep and sun terrace. The suites share a private swimming pool and enjoy wide views across the valley, giving everyone space to spend time together or find a quiet corner of their own.

Rissington’s dining room serves a changing table d’hôte menu alongside lighter options, with dishes drawing on South African and international influences. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and child-friendly options are available, while the bar serves a selection of local and imported beers, award-winning wines and other drinks.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner can all be enjoyed at the inn, with the changing menu giving guests something different to look forward to throughout their stay.

Our next stop was the Rissington Inn, which was also a wonderful accommodation. Unfortunately we were only able to stay here for one night. Our room at the Rissington was quaint and had a beautiful view of the mountains on the Panorama Route. We had dinner at the Rissington which we thoroughly enjoyed and I would recommend to anyone staying at the Rissington. The next morning we wanted to get an early start at Kruger National Park, so the Rissington staff packed our breakfast to go for us. The breakfast included egg and bacon sandwiches, fruit, scones and jam, and juice…which we enjoyed once we arrived in Kruger. We had an awesome day driving through Kruger on our way to Nottens Bush Camp.
A lovely great value for money option! I would recommend staying either before or after a Kruger safari to highlight the many attractions of the Panorama Route!
The Rissington Inn is a hidden (literally) gem! We actually extended our visit by an extra day we were so impressed.
Rissington Inn was also very nice, especially since you booked us into the larger upgraded room on the hillside. The restaurant there was delicious! Do be careful in booking people there in the very hot and very cold times of the year as there is neither heat nor air conditioning.
The Rissington Inn was the perfect place to start off – while there I visited the Elephant Sanctuary where I got to ride an elephant, walk hand-in-trunk with an elephant and get up close and personal! The tour of the Panorama Route was great – such beautiful sights! But one of my favorite things about my stay at the Rissington Inn was lounging around in the hammock on my verandah!
