Overzicht van Expeditions Camp

Botswana, Okavango Delta

Set in the north-western area of the Okavango Delta of Botswana, Expeditions Camp is surrounded by a mix of floodplains, forested islands, lagoons and open grasslands. Expedition-style Meru tents sit beneath the trees on the forest floor, giving the camp a simple, comfortable feel and a close connection to the wilderness.

Days are spent exploring this varied landscape, with morning and afternoon game drives complemented by boating and mokoro safaris when water levels allow. Birding is excellent, while seasonal fishing offers another way to experience the Delta. For a different perspective, helicopter flights can take guests above the waterways or to ancient rock paintings and community projects.

Expeditions Camp is a good choice for travellers who enjoy an informal safari and the easy camaraderie of a small camp, with communal meals making it particularly appealing to solo travellers. It can be combined with other Okavango Delta camps or paired with a contrasting Botswana destination as part of a wider safari.

Tent

Set beneath the trees on the forest floor, the Meru tents bring guests close to the Okavango while retaining the comforts you need after a day in the bush. Each has an en-suite bathroom and flush toilet, with four-poster beds, antique furnishings, rich textiles and Persian rugs adding character to the stylish interiors.

The private verandas look towards the floodplains, providing a quiet place to sit and take in the landscape between activities.

Life at Expeditions Camp centres around the mess, which overlooks the floodplains and provides a comfortable place to relax between activities. Sink into a chair with a drink, watch the Delta from the deck or gather around the communal table as the day’s adventures become stories to share.

The camp keeps things intentionally simple, with electricity and plug points in the tents and Wi-Fi available in the rooms. Open safari vehicles with rooftop seating make it easy to take in the landscape and wildlife from a higher vantage point while out on game drives.

Meals at Expeditions Camp are freshly prepared and plated, with menus designed to suit the relaxed atmosphere of camp. Dietary requirements can be accommodated when advised before travel.
