Supporting Women and Children through Healthcare and Education
The Gift of Hope is a non-profit organisation that supports South African women and children infected with or affected by HIV. Established in 2006 by passionate volunteers, The Gift of Hope is dedicated to caring for women and children in need, providing them with a holistic range of HIV healthcare services, including:
- Testing
- Treatment
- Care
- Education
- Psychosocial support
With projects that address critical gaps in healthcare within communities around South Africa, The Gift of Hope’s mission is to ensure that women and children in need have access to quality HIV treatment and care, regardless of their financial ability.
In January 2014, The Gift of Hope joined forces with Witkoppen Clinic to help expand and strengthen its HIV programs. Witkoppen is a private and comprehensive primary healthcare centre that serves disadvantaged communities living in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs where poverty is rife, unemployment is high, and access to affordable healthcare is in desperately short supply.
Go2Africa’s Partnership with The Gift of Hope
The Gift of Hope’s founder and Executive Director, Lauren Cohen, is a long-time client of Go2Africa. Not only have we tailor-made many safari holidays for Lauren and her family, but Go2Africa has also collaborated with Lauren in arranging fundraising events and planning meaningful, private-group trips that give travellers a first-hand account of The Gift of Hope’s vital work.
Since 2017, Go2Africa has been curating safaris for clients referred to us by Lauren Cohen, and making a donation to The Gift of Hope for each of these bookings. In 2021, we formalised our relationship with an agreement committing to donating 3% of the total booking value of each trip booked by clients referred by Lauren to The Gift of Hope.
