Founded in 1987, LUX* Island Resorts (formerly known as Naide Resorts Ltd) operates a collection of premium properties on the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius, Reunion and the Maldives. Five of the eight LUX* hotels are in Mauritius, and include the popular LUX* Belle Mare (formerly Beau Rivage), LUX* Le Morne (formerly Les Pavillons) and LUX* Grand Gaube (formerly Legends).
When CEO Paul Jones - a passionate hotelier and travel industry expert - took over the Naide Resorts group in late 2010 he opted for a complete rebranding and carefully selected the name 'LUX' which means 'light' in Latin.
The company's new philosophy is 'lighter, brighter' in response to the international movement towards lighter living. Out go rich sauce-laden dishes, pretentious wine lists and formal butlers, and in its place is a fresher version of a luxury island holiday with a focus on creating original and unexpected additional experiences be it on-beach film screenings, pop-up bars, retro-styled ice-cream parlours or yoga classes.
The LUX* brand has received numerous accolades and in 2012 was awarded "Luxury Travel Supplier of the Year" by TTG Travel Awards (London).
