Uganda and Rwanda are two of Africa’s newest and most exciting safari destinations where intrepid travellers will enjoy discovering vast tracts of rainforest and endangered primates like gorillas and golden monkeys.
Ten days is a generous amount of time to spend here and ensures that you can really immerse yourself in the culture of these vibrant countries and make the most of the many activities included in this thoughtfully curated itinerary.
You will begin your adventure in Entebbe, your entry point to Uganda. From there, you will fly to Lake Mutanda – a birder’s paradise – before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will enjoy four days filled with gorilla trekking, community visits to Nkuringo and the Batwa people, and walking trails via the Ivy or Kashasha Rivers. You will stay in different parts of Bwindi before crossing the border into Rwanda and the splendours of Volcanoes National Park. Here you will be guided by expert track to observe more gorilla families in the wild and hopefully also spot elusive golden monkeys, which have expressive blue faces.
Then it is off to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, and your home for your final night in Africa. Two of the most memorable moments in this thriving city will be a visit to the Genocide Memorial Centre and dinner at the Milles Collines Hotel, which played a major role in Rwanda’s inspiring history.
