Register and check in at the Pretoria Station Lounge in the late afternoon, enjoying pre-departure snacks and drinks before boarding starts. Your private butler will usher you to a Luxury Suite, your comfortable and opulent home-away-from-home for the next three days. Enjoy your first delicious dinner of the journey in the Dining Car, prepared by professional chefs using only the freshest of local ingredients like Karoo lamb, ostrich, venison, and Knysna oysters paired with award-winning cultivars from the Cape Winelands. Dinner is an elegant, semi-formal affair and men are requested to wear at least jackets or waistcoats. Savour some post-dinner drinks and Cuban cigars in the Club Car.

Day 2: Discover the Big Hole

After breakfast, the train will arrive at Kimberley Station where you will disembark for a bus transfer to the historical sites of the Kimberley Open Mine Museum. This fascinating open-air museum depicts Kimberley in its Victorian prime during South Africa's diamond rush of the late nineteenth century. Marvel at a display of uncut diamonds including 'The 616' (616 carats) - the world's biggest uncut diamond - and the first diamond discovered in South Africa, the 'Eureka'. Continue to an enclosed viewing on the edge of the Big Hole for a bird's eye view of the world's largest hand-dug excavation. This famous hole is 215 metres or 705 feet deep with a circumference of 1.6 kilometres or one mile. Lunch is served upon your return to the Blue Train, followed by high tea in the Lounge Car.
