All your transfers are by light aircraft, and there truly is no better way to see the scale of Botswana’s incredible landscape. At Savuti Camp there are game drives and birding safaris to look forward to – spend your days spotting big game, antelope and top predators like leopard and lion. Delta Camp is set on game-rich Chief’s Island in the Okavango and here you can experience eco-friendly activities like walking safaris, camping expeditions, cultural visits, mokoro (canoe) rides and horse riding.

The focus of the tour is on friendly service, highly rewarding game viewing and unpretentious, down-to-earth accommodation in remote, pristine locations where there is solar-powered electricity and no mobile phone reception. The camps are owner-operated with a high guide-to-guest ratio, and the rangers have an unrivalled knowledge of Botswana’s beautiful wilderness. Special extras like binoculars in your suite, outside showers with gorgeous private views, freshly baked bread, and home-made energy bars take this safari experience from great to unforgettable.

Detailed breakdown

Days 1-2: Safari at Savute | 2 Nights

Up arrow
Savuti, Botswana

Your Botswana safari begins at Maun Airport where you will be whisked away on a light aircraft towards the country’s lush northern wilderness. A game-drive vehicle awaits your touchdown at Savuti Airstrip and after all luggage is loaded you will embark on your first game drive through Chobe National Park. Camp Savuti is located on the Savute Channel and is positioned to take in beautiful sunset views over the water.

With just five Meru-style tented suites, the camp is intimate and unpretentious with a very friendly team of staff to ensure you are well-looked after, and have a personalised safari experience. Each tent overlooks the channel and from your private terrace you can watch a myriad of birds, large elephant families and other wildlife come to drink, especially at dawn and dusk. Over the next two days you will explore on game drives and birding safaris, with plenty of time left over to simply sit back with a refreshing drink and absorb the awe-inspiring landscape of marsh waters and open grasslands.

Days 3-5: Explore the Delta | 3 Nights

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Today you will travel south by light aircraft to the western boundary of Moremi Game Reserve, in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The flight allows you to witness incredible vistas of the Delta’s lush marshlands, wetlands, forests and winding tributaries. After landing at Delta Camp Airstrip you will cruise into Delta Camp on a mokoro canoe, possibly passing by pods of hippo as you go. The camp is located on the south-western edge of Chief’s Island and its seven treehouse suites are individually and organically designed around the island’s beautiful old trees. The suites are also made to offer the best possible views of the water-and-plains landscape, and offer special touches like binoculars, and outdoor showers with beautiful private vistas.

At Delta Camp your group is hosted by a private local guide born and raised in the area, and harbouring an incredible wealth of knowledge of the Delta’s wetlands. Ready yourself for an authentic, peaceful and restorative safari experience – there are no noisy vehicles at Chief’s Island, and you will glide through the Okavango on an authentic wooden mokoro traditionally crafted and used in the past. Met the people who live in the baYei village, set out for walking safaris, go birding, horse-riding, or even spend a night out on a fly-camping expedition – all with your expert guide at your side to enrich your journey with detailed answers and anecdotes.
