Journey Through Northern Namibia
Designed to showcase the fascinating wildlife and stunning landscapes of northern Namibia, this safari combines three of the country's most rewarding destinations. It opens on a private game reserve close to Etosha National Park where you'll enjoy heavyweight game viewing – elephant, rhino and lion – within an exclusive environment with no queues or crowds at sightings. The exclusivity theme continues with your next accommodation, set in the remarkable scenery of the Kaokoveld and leaving just a trace of a footprint in this arid, primal but beautiful region. Here is your chance to track rare and unusual desert creatures, meet local communities as well as soak up the dazzling night skies – a Kaokoveld speciality.
The sound of thumping waves greets you at your final destination. The only accommodation in the Skeleton Coast National Park, Shipwreck Lodge is your chance to experience one of the most remote and unique destinations in Africa. Namibia's Atlantic coast is a starkly beautiful landscape of sea, sand and sky, where the beaches are littered with whale bones and lonely shipwrecks and patrolled by wandering brown hyenas and lions.
A well-balanced week with a combination of road transfers and flights between camps to save time, this tour enjoys comfortable en suite accommodation throughout. And although the accommodation lies in wild and remote settings, you still enjoy the convenience of electric lighting, Wi-Fi and battery-charging points plus excellent food. Such idyllic landscapes and comfortable accommodations make this a great choice for honeymooners and couples on a special journey, but this is a tour that also works well for a multi-generational family travelling together.
The tour opens on a private 60 000-acre (24 000 hectares) game reserve where you check in at Safarihoek Lodge for two nights. Set overlooking the vastness of the northern Namibia savannah, the Etosha Heights Private Reserve is home to elephant, lion and giraffe, as well as both black and white rhino. The private setting means you can augment morning and afternoon game drives with guided walks and spot-lit night drives too. Photographers will particularly enjoy the camp’s hide: professionally sited over the flood-lit waterhole which makes a great base for close-up views – especially in the late afternoon and evening.

‘It is hard to understand just how remote the location of this lodge is but you will be amazed by the genuine wilderness. The lodge is surrounded by the never-ending dunes of the Namib desert. It is one of the only locations in the world where you can look forward to spotting desert-adapted lions.’
Sit back on a scenic drive as you head west, away from the savannah and into Namibiau2019s Kaokoveld region. One of the most sparsely populated regions in the country, the Kaokoveld is a hauntingly beautiful landscape of element-blasted mountains and cracked river valleys, strewn with boulders and twisted thorn trees. Your accommodation is Hoanib Valley Camp, overlooking an impossible green strip of vegetation that hugs a desert river and supports a great wealth of wildlife. Here is where you search for desert-adapted giraffe, lions and elephant on game drives or perhaps on foot in the company of a local Himba guide. And since the lodge’s location is so remote, you can sit back to some of the most impressive night skies.

Shipwreck Lodge – the highlight of the trip…could've spent a third night there to chill as our 2 nights were packed with activities. I know this place was crazy expensive, but honestly another $2k (total would have been worth it).
It's another scenic drive to your final destination: an artfully designed suite overlooking the cold, uncompromising Atlantic Ocean on Namibia's infamous Skeleton Coast. Shipwreck Lodge lies in a landscape of shifting horizons as sea, sky and sand combine under hazy sun. This is your chance to soak in the majesty of an untamed wilderness and look for unique coastal wildlife – like scavenging brown hyenas – and enjoy activities such as quad-biking and sand boarding.
