Overview

This itinerary is designed for travellers with minimal time constraints and a keen eye on the budget. You will save by not flying between destinations, plus get a first-hand experience of Kenya's friendly cultures and breath-taking landscapes.

Your road safari kicks off in a beautiful private reserve on the northern border of Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is home to East Africa's biggest elephant herds and offers the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro. On a cloudless day, this is the best place to get that postcard-perfect shot of elephants against a Kili backdrop.

Next, you travel to an intimate camp nestled within an alluring riverine forest in one of the world's only national parks situated alongside a capital city. Enjoy a game drive in search of Nairobi National Park's resident lion, hyena, giraffe, ostrich, buffalo, and if you're lucky, leopard and cheetah.

Your final destination on this Kenya odyssey is Ol Kinyei Conservancy, a private reserve bordering the world-famous Masai Mara. Enjoy your last few days at an authentic safari camp located in a wildlife-rich area. Explore the Masai Mara wilderness on guided walks with Maasai warriors, day and night game drives, and tracking lions with the Mara Naboisho Lion Project.

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

You will be picked up from Nairobi at 6 am and transferred by shared minibus to Porini Amboseli Camp, arriving at camp before lunch. Following afternoon tea, you can enjoy a walk with Maasai warriors to their local village to get an insight into their fascinating culture and way of life. Then take your first game drive in the camp’s open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle into the conservancy, stopping for a sundowner at a scenic spot overlooking Kilimanjaro, followed by a night game drive to look for nocturnal animals such as aardvarks, serval cats, caracals, bat-eared foxes, African wild cats, and other species. Return to camp for drinks around the fire and a delicious dinner.

Porini Amboseli Camp is an intimate, luxury safari camp, with added comforts. Each tent is furnished with en-suite bathrooms with a shower, washbasin, and running water, and has solar-powered electric lighting. Being in a private game reserve, you will not see any other vehicles or minibusses during your stay.

The next morning, awake with the chirping calls of the birds. After an early breakfast, drive through the bush into Amboseli National Park, for a full morning of game viewing in the camp’s open-sided 4×4 safari vehicle. Following a picnic lunch in the park, return to camp later in the afternoon. In the evening you will sip on a sundowner on an observation platform overlooking a waterhole by the camp, where elephants and other animals often come to drink.  Make your way back to camp for a shower and dinner.
