Per Person Sharing
11 days
Set out on an unforgettable bush and beach journey through Mozambique's coveted natural landscapes, beginning in the celebrated conservation triumph of Gorongosa National Park and concluding along the pristine shores of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Your first two nights are spent tucked along the riverbanks in a remote corner of the Gorongosa reserve at Muzimu Lodge. Here, you'll be treated to immersive game drives and golden-hour sundowners, alongside meaningful community visits with local beekeepers and farmers.
From here, continue to Chicari Camp for three nights of canvas-tented luxury. You may choose to embark on a full-day excursion tracing the rainforest slopes, visiting coffee plantations and trekking to a breathtaking waterfall. The remainder of your time centres on Gorongosa's remarkable conservation successes, balanced with ample opportunities for game drives and afternoon safaris.
Finally, a restorative retreat at Azura Marlin Beach awaits, with five nights devoted to effortless holidaying. Quietly carve a path through crystalline waters aboard a traditional dhow, and enjoy kayaking at first light, embracing the unhurried rhythm of beachside living.
With five nights spent on safari and five nights by the sea, this itinerary strikes the balance between wilderness immersion and relaxed beachside sojourns. Ideal for travellers seeking a richly diverse retreat that spares no expenses in terms of luxury and affordability.
When I chose Mozambique and the Gorongosa area it was based on seeing the Greg Clark 60 Minutes’ documentary. I can now say that the experience was well beyond my expectations. First, the land in the Gorongosa area is beautiful and varied. The Muzimu Tented Camp was first rate in the accommodations, food preparation, guides and total staff. My family was able to see many different wildlife as well as other experiences such as visiting the main camp with its research labs and visiting a beautiful waterfall going through towns and seeing all the children greeting us with waving hands and excitement.
After many trips to Africa, I will recommend that you can and should put Mozamb...
Ease into your first day at Muzimu Lodge with an afternoon game drive exploring the park's vast floodplains, hoping to catch your first wildlife sighting. Sundowners on the reserve are accompanied by light snacks and the clinking of whiskey glasses, as you survey over the pre-evening skies alight with oranges and pink. Retreat back to the lodge, where you'll spend two nights ensconced in lavish tented suites. Â
The following day is dedicated to community engagement with immersive foot and cycling tours, visiting local schools and meeting the revered sustainable farmers and beekeepers. Learn about the empowerment projects that are attributed to the Gorongosa Restoration Project that keeps these communities thriving. Return to camp for lunch, followed by another afternoon game drive.
