A comprehensive wildlife and wilderness experience, this 2-week overland safari showcases northern Namibia, a land of big game and big cats as well as traditional cultures and simply stunning scenery. The itinerary moves between days spent on the road and time spent exploring the local area from the comfort of a tented camp, guesthouse or cosy lodge. Opening up some of Namibia’s most inaccessible and least-visited regions, it is the perfect safari for adventurous and budget-savvy travellers looking for an off-the-beaten-path tour with the assurance of great wildlife viewing and plenty of diverse and engaging activities.
You are in the safe hands of a professional driver/guide and can sit back in comfort on board a rugged 4X4 with a guarantee of a window seat. The vehicle has large sliding windows and a pop-up roof for great photographic opportunities and, since there are never more than six passengers on the safari, there is always plenty of space on board.
Beginning and ending in Windhoek, the tour opens by meeting Kalahari San Bushmen and visiting Etosha National Park where you will be on the lookout for elephant, rhino, lion and a host of species ranging from zebra and giraffe to cheetah and leopard. Turning north, you explore the Kaokoveld, home to the ochre-painted Himba people and secret rivers bubbling over waterfalls before heading into Damaraland, home to Namibia’s famous ‘desert elephants’ and some of the country’s most memorable scenery, a landscape of craggy mountains and gravel plains glowing below spectacular sunsets.
