Overview

This four-day journey takes you into the heart of one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations: Botswana's Okavango Delta. An extraordinary wilderness of wetlands and woodlands, this freshwater river delta is packed with animals and offers sensational bird watching.

Spend your evenings at Chief's Camp, set on Chief's Island, the largest in the Delta. This traditional but luxurious safari lodge is perfectly located to deliver great game viewing: you explore the waterways from the vantage point of a dug-out canoe (known as a 'mokoro') or motorboat, or you cruise across open floodplains on game drives. Be on the look out for the many predators in the area and enjoy the mix of classic savannah animals and aquatic creatures.

The camp offers a great refuge to retreat to after an early morning start - relax at the camp bar or enjoy a massage or spa treatment beside the lodge's swimming pool.

Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

Once you have arrived at Maun Airport, you will board your short charter flight to Chief's Camp, located on Chief's Island in the private Mombo Concession of the legendary Moremi Game Reserve. Settle in before relaxing on your private viewing deck with a refreshing drink in hand to take stock of your new surroundings.

Days 2-3: Explore the Okavango Delta

Up arrow

You have two full days to explore this famously game-rich area, and things start early enough with your first morning game drive - head out after coffee in an open-sided safari vehicle and begin looking for big game. The area supports large herds of buffalo and many antelope species as well as giraffe, zebra, hippo and crocodile. Elephants are common on the island and all the major predators are present.

You can also get into a dug-out canoe, called a mokoro, and journey down the river channels with your guide on bird watching trips. For something more exclusive, opt for a walking safari with a professional guide for an insight into the ecology of the Okavango Delta. And after a busy day of exploring, what better than to enjoy a rejuvenating spa treatment before sitting down to a delectable dinner under the stars.

Day 4: Bid Botswana farewell
