'I just love Zambia! It is still relatively untouched by mass tourism and it offers a wonderful game-viewing experience. It is the perfect destination for the more active traveller as besides game drives you can also go on safari walks, canoeing or boating.'

Detailed breakdown

Days 1-3: Bliss out at Sussi & Chuma | 2 Nights

Up arrow
Zambezi River, Victoria Falls, Zambia

Arrive in Livingstone and transfer up the Zambezi River to your first amazing destination - Sussi & Chuma Lodge. Before starting any activities, settle into your accommodation - a 'tree house' situated on the banks of the spectacular Zambezi.

Your days here are varied: you can enjoy a sight-seeing trip to the thundering Victoria Falls or simply sit back and unwind to the slow pace of Africa while on a relaxing late afternoon game drive in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.

Or, after an early morning cup of tea or coffee, start the day with a game drive in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park or a cultural visit to nearby villages.

Those in search of adventure will be happy to hear that the area is world-famous as Africa's adrenalin capital. The thrilling activities including bungee jumping, white-water rafting and a breath-taking helicopter flight over Victoria Falls.

Every evening, return to the lodge to spend some time soaking up the river views from your private deck before sundowners and a gourmet meal at the end of the day.

Days 3-6: Go back in time at Chichele | 3 Nights

South Luangwa National Park

Prepare yourself for exciting game viewing in Zambia's flagship national park. After breakfast at Sussi & Chuma, transfer to Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone for your scheduled flight to Mfuwe Airstrip in South Luangwa National Park, via Lusaka. Your accommodation is Kuyenda Bushcamp on the Manzi River.

Guided walking safaris are a very popular activity in the South Luangwa and are often rewarded with fantastic sightings of elephants and other big game species. The guides, supported by armed rangers, are superb and you will learn a great deal about the ecology of the park.

Spend your afternoons at leisure before heading off on a night drive in search of the park's nocturnal species, not least the leopard - South Luangwa is one of Africa's best destinations for this elusive big cat.

Days 6-10: Exploring the Lower Zambezi | 4 Nights

Up arrow
Lower Zambezi, Zambia

After saying farewell to the friendly staff at Kuyenda, jet into the Lower Zambezi National Park and your next accommodation, The Royal Zambezi Lodge. Settle in and take stock of your wild surroundings and plan the next few days of your safari.
The Royal Zambezi is an award-winning but unpretentious lodge located on the banks of the Zambezi River in a private concession. With a host of exciting activities to choose from, you are guaranteed an exceptional experience: thrilling big-game encounters vie with canoeing the pristine waters teeming with hippos and crocodiles or hiking the surrounding mountains. Once you have had your fill of adventure, the Royal Bush Spa - Zambia's first 'bush spa' - offers the perfect retreat to revitalise your body and senses. Or you could honour the lodge's well-worn tradition of 'DNA' - that's, 'Do nothing at all'.
The Lower Zambezi National Park is, of course, one of the region's best reserves. Home to large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and lion, the game viewing is excellent and you will have a variety of activities to choose from: explore the area on day and night game drives, guided nature walks, exciting boat cruises and even from a canoe as you slowly paddle downstream.
On your final day, transfer back to Royal Airstrip for your flight to Lusaka. Your exhilarating tour will end on arrival in the nation's capital.
