Days 1-2: Hike through the scenic Drakensberg Mountains | 2 Nights

Arrive at King Shaka International Airport in Durban where you will collect your rental car and drive to Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. Situated in the Drakensberg Mountains, this charming country house will be your home for the next two nights.

Go hiking through the incredible Drakensberg, swimming in the mountain rivers and see the prolific birdlife. Enjoy horseback rides and nature walks along the scenic mountain trails. Venture further out to explore the Highmoor Dam and the Kamberg Nature Reserve and head out on the endless scenic trails of this impressive mountain range. Back at the Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse you can enjoy excellent fishing as the Little Mooi River - brimming with brown trout - runs through the property.

Relax with a book in one of the garden hammocks or even take a cooking class. In the evenings you can delight in the farmhouse's excellent cuisine.

Days 3-4: Unwind in the midlands | 2 Nights

Get active with a range of extra activities like horseback riding, hot-air balloon rides, mountain-biking and fly fishing, all the while drinking in this pristine landscape. Days 5-7: Learn about the Zulu battles | 3 Nights

Today you will travel to Fugitives' Drift Guest House, located in the historically rich kwaZulu-Natal Battlefields. View a range of art, artifacts and contemporary memorabilia relating to the famous Anglo-Zulu War as you stroll through the country house's museum - an interesting and enlightening experience. Stroll down to the Buffalo River for a spot of fishing, or head out on a horse-back game viewing excursion, looking out for the zebra, giraffe and antelope that roam the plains. There is a lot to learn about South Africa's fascinating past in your immediate surrounds; pay a visit to the memorial of the Prince Imperial or the Talana Museum.

Go on a guided historic tour where you will learn more about the battles between the Zulus and the British as they were fought at Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. Make one last stop at the Rorke's Drift Arts & Crafts Centre where you can buy a unique souvenir that will forever remind you of your trip.

Day 8: Reach the end of the journey
