Overview

This mid-range gorilla safari in Uganda will take you into the heart of a rainforest and face-to-face with humankind’s distant relatives.

Your first night will be spent in the city, enjoying Ugandan hospitality, and easing into what is sure to be a remarkable gorilla safari. You will be charter flown to an airstrip and find yourself immersed into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to half of the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas. It has been declared a World Heritage Site because of its incredibly diverse eco-system. Bwindi’s vine-covered, fern-rich canopies are the haven of many interesting species, including colobus monkeys.

Day 1: City Settling | 1 Night

When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, your Ugandan expedition begins! You will be met and transferred to your hotel for your first night at The Boma Hotel Entebbe.

This premier hotel is where you will get settled into the city, surrounded by tropical gardens and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel was originally built as a home in the 1940s, and then converted into an environmentally-conscious accommodation that is the perfect base to start a Uganda gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2-4: Rare Mountain Gorilla Encounters | 3 Nights

Bwindi National Park, Uganda

After a leisurely morning, you will be transferred back to Entebbe International Airport for your charter flight to Kihihi Airfield. On arrival, you will then be transferred to Engagi Lodge, where you will spend your next three nights.

Engagi Lodge is an intimate property that is set on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge boasts spectacular views of the forest and has a rock bar, a restaurant, and a large wooden veranda where you can simply relax in this beautiful part of the world.

On your third day, you will hike through the rainforest accompanied by guides and trackers, in search of endangered mountain gorilla families. Uganda is a custodian of these magnificent creatures and is dedicated to protecting these species, making your encounters matter in vital conservation initiatives. When sighted, you will be guided within a few metres of them, and there is no more extraordinary feeling than being in their presence.

Your fourth day is all about taking advantage of leisure time at the lodge.

Wake up to an early morning breakfast as you'll be spending the day in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your Gorilla Tracking adventure. Gorilla Tracking is a captivating and an unforgettable experience which more than repays the effort needed to reach Bwindi and to trek through the forest. Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of the Gentle Giants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park surely is the most exciting and poignant wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer.

Day 5: Goodbye, Uganda
