This 10-day tour takes travellers through Tanzania to see some of the most sought-after sights that safari has to offer. Whether you’re after the Big 5 or you want to witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles – the Great Wildebeest Migration – this whirlwind African adventure has it all.
The journey is centred around Tanzania’s awe-inspiring northern safari circuit. It’s straight into the action on your transfer to Lake Manyara National Park after spending a night in Arusha to recover from your long-haul flight. Two nights in the park provides plenty of opportunity for sightings, as the park’s eponymous lake attracts hordes of animals. Then it’s off to the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest in-tact volcanic caldera, for a one-of-a-kind experience at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge perched on the lip of the basin.
Finally, it’s off to the most well-known of Tanzania’s safari attractions: the Serengeti. Staying at a tented camp here gives you the chance to truly get in touch with nature. Plus, if you’re lucky enough to get a spot when the Wildebeest Migration passes through, you’ll have front-row seats to the dramatic river crossings. With plenty of additional activities, including walking safaris, bike rides through the bush and wellness treatments, this tour is great for adventurers and pursuers of pleasure alike. Plus, with child-friendly activities on offer at some of the camps, the tour can be adapted to suit families too.

Itinerary
Day to day
Your African adventure begins in Tanzania. After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be transferred to Legendary Lodge in Arusha, your accommodation for the evening. After dinner, escape the chilly evening air in your room, lounging in leather armchairs in front of the fireplace to recharge from your long-haul flight. All that’s left is to get a good night’s sleep before your safari kicks off in earnest tomorrow.
After breakfast at Legendary Lodge you’ll head off to the iconic Lake Manyara National Park. A game drive through the park will take you to Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, where you’ll spend two nights in a spacious treehouse suite with sweeping views of this unique reserve. With landscapes ranging from dense woodlands to craggy mountains and, of course, the eponymous Rift Valley soda lake, this stunning park offers spectacular game viewing in an equally awe-inspiring setting. Aside from vast herds of safari favourites like elephant, buffalo and giraffe, you’ll spot at least a few of the more than 400 species of birds that flock to the shores of the lake. With plenty of plains game throughout the park, predators are never too far away. Keep an eye out for cheetah, leopard and the unusual tree-climbing lions Lake Manyara is famous for. When you’re not out exploring the park, you’ll have the chance to explore the surrounding forest or indulge in a massage at the spa. For something a little more active, grab a bicycle and head out to explore the lake shore.
The next leg of your trip sees you travelling north to the Ngorongoro Crater. Formed about 2.5 million years ago when an eruption caused the original volcano to collapse in on itself, crater has long been a safe haven for wildlife and there are usually about 30 000 animals roaming its floor. Your transfer will again take you on a game drive through the conservation area and up the outer crater wall to your accommodation for the next two nights: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
Located on the rim of the caldera, the lodge offers dramatic views of the surrounding area. Aside from the breathtaking vistas, Ngorongoro Crater Lodge offers enriching cultural and adventure activities. Add a visit to Olduvai Gorge (the cradle of mankind) or the nearby Hadzabe village to your crater descent for a one-of-a-kind experience.
Your next stop will bring you to Singita Mara River Tented Camp in the remote Lamai triangle. Set in nearly 40 000 hectares (98 000 acres) of unspoilt wilderness in northernmost Tanzania, this sustainable camp offers guests some of the most prized game-viewing opportunities. From nights drives and walking safaris to the awe-inspiring Great Wildebeest Migration, this permanent tented camp provides all of the experiences that have come to define safari.
When youu2019re not exploring your surroundings, you can spend some time relaxing next to the pool or with an essential oil massage. And after a long day out in the bush, you can wind down with a glass of wine from the prestigious private collection for which Singita is famous.
Day 12 will see you bidding farewell to the Serengeti as you’re transferred back to Lamai Airstrip en route to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home – or to your next safari destination.
