Overview

Your 11-day luxury Tanzania migration itinerary begins in Arusha on a coffee plantation, an ideal way to get settled in before the call of the wild. It's then on to Tarangire National Park, where elephants are the stars of the show, and the baobab trees make for picture perfect backdrops.

The next safari beckoning will be at the Ngorongoro Crater, a place renowned for its wildlife diversity and it's UNESCO World Heritage site status. After two magical evenings, you will be charter flown to the Serengeti, the most famous of Tanzania's national parks, and where you will spend your last few days in a luxury tented camp.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Legendary Lodge

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Legendary Lodge | 1 Night

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you are met by an Asilia representative to transfer you to Legendary Lodge for your overnight stay located on the foothills of the magnificent Mount Meru, found on the outskirts of the bustling town of Arusha. 

This luxury accommodation is set in lush gardens with a unique blend of Colonial heritage and surrounded by a working coffee farm. Check into your stylish garden cottage and enjoy the amenities it has to offer. The rooms are well-equipped and include spacious bedrooms with mini-bars, air-conditioning and TVs. The nearby recreation centre offers guests a fully equipped gym with aerobics studio, sauna, steam room, pool, tennis and squash courts as well as sports fields and a five-kilometre running track. 

Legendary Lodge is the perfect stopover to gain access to the Northern Safari Circuit.  Indulge in a delicious gourmet dinner, served at the old farmhouse, before retiring for the night in preparation for your onward safari festivities ahead. 

Day 2-3: Lemala Mpingo Ridge | 2 Nights

Early morning breakfast is served followed by a scenic drive to Lemala Mpingo Ridge located on the top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below, arriving just in time to relax and enjoy a sumptuous dinner. Your spacious tented suite has been carefully positioned to maximize not only the sensational views over Tarangire but to also take advantage of cooling breezes during hot weather. Your room features an en-suite bathroom, a private deck, a sunken outside lounge that converts to an afternoon siesta bed. A special feature is the private outside bathtub - perfect for soothing the soul and washing away the African dust after a day on safari. 

Being the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire remains slightly off the main safari circuit but is a terrifically scenic park featuring classic African savannah, green hills, woodlands and rivers and is especially famous for its large herds of elephants, superb birdlife and giant baobab trees. You will enjoy a real sense of wilderness and an excellent game viewing experience during your scheduled game drive in the park the following morning.

Day 4-5: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge | 2 Nights

With your packed lunch from Lemala Mpingo, prepare yourself for a drive towards your new home-away-from-home for 2 nights at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge - located North of Tanzania at the edge of the world's famous heritage site Ngorongoro crater, the Earth's largest intact caldera. The lodge has been called the game lodge at the top of the world. Between the natural riches of the Crater spread out at its feet and the incredible architecture, it’s easy to believe that you have entered a realm of pure fantasy. The lodge's elegant suites are set on stilts and have grass roofs with banana-leaf ceilings. They feature a blend of Victorian furnishing with traditional African decor, along with Persian rugs and crater-view decks. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner in the indoor dining area or outside in the open-sided dining area that offers picturesque views of the crater floor as you enjoy your meal. Retire for the night and get some well deserved rest before your exciting crater descent in the morning.

The next morning, enjoy an early breakfast before departing with your guide for the Ngorongoro Crater. Spend the morning game-driving on the crater floor, exploring the area in search of the varied wildlife that lives here. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch during the heat of the day in a shady spot before driving back to the lodge, where you can relax in the communal area or cosy up in front of a log fire.

Day 6-7: Serengeti Roving Bushtops | 2 Nights

Enjoy early morning breakfast before your transfer to Manyara Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Serengeti/South Airstrip. Upon arrival, you are then transferred to and arrive just in time for lunch at Serengeti Roving Bushtops. 

Roving Bushtops offers both magnificent surroundings and spectacular game-viewing opportunities for you to enjoy for the next 2 days. The camp's main base sits proudly in the heart of the Central Serengeti, in the Seronera valley. Not only does this superb location provide exceptional year-round game viewing for guests, the migration comes in June and November and you can reach the migration herds on a half or full-day game drive till around the end of June/beginning of July before they reach the northern Serengeti, and around mid-October to November when the herds are returning. 

After your day's festivities enjoy sumptuous cuisine in the central mess tent set against the compelling beauty of the Serengeti. You can enjoy equally captivating views should you choose to dine in the privacy of your own tent. With a campfire glowing outside, this is life in the Bush at its most sophisticated and harmonious - and the perfect place to end a perfect day, watching the sun sink over the vast Serengeti plains.

Day 8-10: Serengeti Bushtops | 3 Nights

After breakfast, board a scheduled flight to Serengeti/South Airstrip. From here, another flight takes you to Kogatende Airstrip followed by your check-in into your new bush home Serengeti Bushtops Luxury Tented Camp for 3 nights.
