Overview of Etosha Safari Lodge

Sited just over six miles or 10km the popular Andersson Gate to Etosha National Park in Namibia, Etosha Safari Lodge is perfect for large groups travelling together and has a unique ‘African shebeen with a twist’ look and feel.

Boasting lovely views over the mopane bush from the hillock on which it is located, Etosha Safari Lodge has 65 double cottages, three swimming pools and a large buffet-style restaurant with pre-allocated seating. It is the communal areas – especially the Okambashu Restaurant and Oooh Shebeena Bar – that make the lodge especially memorable: inspired by ‘township chic’, the décor consists of historical and political memorabilia that celebrates the country’s past while the furniture comprises unique items like chairs fashioned from recycled tractor tyres, with plenty of authentic zinc cladding. Like any shebeen (or township tavern) worth its salt, the bar at Etosha Safari Lodge also has a pool table and television for watching sport.

The cottages have air conditioning, queen-sized beds and en suite bathrooms that have a touch of whimsy in the large showers. Although there is no wildlife around the lodge, there are daily 4×4 game drives into Etosha, which is Namibia’s flagship reserve.
