Spend eight magical days in Tanzania’s diverse landscapes, from the western corridor of the majestic Serengeti, to the soft-sand shore of the second-largest lake in the world. Start your adventure in arguably the pinnacle of safari destinations, Serengeti National Park. This slice of paradise is home to one of our planet’s most awe-inspiring concentrations of wildlife and the Greatest Animal Show on Earth: the annual Wildebeest Migration. You will stay at the magnificent Soroi Serengeti Lodge, ideally situated to witness the Great Migration in season. The lodge is built high on a natural plateau and boasts the most incredible views over the vast plains.
You then travel from ‘The Land that Moves on Forever’ to the remote western shore of Lake Tanganyika. Kungwe Beach Lodge is a comfortable tented camp nestled at the foot of the Mahale Mountain rainforest, overlooking one of the beautiful African Great Lakes. The densely forested Mahale Mountains National Park is home to the largest known population of chimpanzees on Earth. The park’s researchers have spent decades habituating one troop (the ‘M group’) to humans. You might also spot leopard, bushbuck, bush pig, and a plethora of birds and butterflies during a trek through the forests. Tanganyika is home to over 250 species of tropical fish – an ideal lake for snorkelling and kayaking.

Day to day
Welcome Tanzania! After your scheduled flight from Arusha Airport to Seronera Airstrip, you will be transferred – and simultaneously enjoy your first game drive (if time allows) – to the magnificent Soroi Serengeti Lodge. Settle into your hillside luxury chalet, tucked beneath glorious acacia trees. Enjoy absolute privacy and uninterrupted views over the Serengeti. Relish in your suiteu2019s creature comforts like a comfortable canopy bed with mosquito netting, beautiful wooden floors, and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub. For most visitors, the private outdoor showers are Soroi’s blockbusters – built on wooden decks and boasting spellbinding views over the vast plains.
Spend your days witnessing the Great Migration (in season), and enjoy thrilling game drives in the Serengeti. Unwind by the lodge’s beautiful infinity pool while enjoying a refreshing sundowner drink and the incredible savannah views. After a day in the wild, treat yourself to a rejuvenating treatment at the Nomadic African Spa. Sit back in Soroi’s open-air dining area and be delighted by talented chefs preparing your meals in an interactive, open-plan kitchen. Spend your evenings beside the crackling fireplace and share stories of your game drives. If you have the opportunity, ask your Africa Safari Expert an early morning hot-air balloon safari – a magical experience offering a fantastic bird’s eye view over the Serengeti.
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Seronera Airstrip for your chartered flight to Mahale. From there, you will hop on a dhow and enjoy a delightful trip across Lake Tanganyika to a remote beach on the lake’s western shore. Step onto the powder soft-sand and enjoy the warm welcome from Kungwe Beach Lodge’s friendly staff. Settle into your spacious tent, which is built on a raised wooden deck on the shore. Marvel at the splendid views across Tanganyika from your private veranda.
The surrounding Mahale Mountain forest is a beautiful setting in which you will trek chimpanzees and enjoy guided forest walks, discovering other primates like red colobus monkeys and baboons. The forest is also home to antelope, warthog and a massive variety of bird species. Indulge in a variety of water activities like snorkelling, kayaking and fresh-water angling in the second-deepest lake on Earth. Tuck into tasty locally inspired meals while the lake, mountains and lush forest terrain provides a breath-taking backdrop.
After breakfast, hop on the dhow again for your transfer back to Mahale Airstrip, from where you will fly to Arusha Airport.
