About Me

I was very fortunate to grow up in an adventurous family and this is where my passion for travel and sense of adventure was instilled in me, as well as my love for Africa. I grew up in Durban and as a family we always went camping, 4x4ing and exploring off-the-beaten-track areas of Southern Africa! I have been in the Mother City since about 2000 and am privileged to live close to the Boland area with the Boland Mountains nearby and orchards plus wine farms surrounding us…

Where I have travelled

At some stage I have travelled to all four corners of South Africa and explored our beautiful country.

I have extensively travelled in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands, to Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius and the Seychelles. Zanzibar was the ideal honeymoon spot for me and my husband, with a blend of idyllic turquoise waters and rich African cultural and heritage! I was very fortunate to travel for work most of my career and extensively travelled abroad to countries such as the USA, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, China and Australia.

My favorite travel moment

Going fishing with the local people and watching the leatherback and loggerhead turtles coming out of the surf to lay their eggs on the beach, and seeing the hatchlings emerging at night and making for the safety of the sea at Thonga.

What I love about Africa

With over 54 countries to choose from, there is something for every type of traveler when visiting the African continent! It is the less visited and off-the-beaten-track countries and destinations that to showcase the best Africa has to offer, like wild animals, millennia-old cultures, incredible landscapes, impressive waterfalls, epic road trips and beautiful beaches.

My best African travel advice

Arrive with an open mind and plenty of humour - African life works at a different pace to western countries so bear this in mind and enjoy the diversity!

Where I’d love to go next

Gorilla trekking in Uganda and visiting the Batwa tribe!
