Whilst I was born in Johannesburg, my family moved to the coast when I was still very small and I grew up in and went to school in Durban. Following two overseas stints working in the USA, I came back to South Africa and went on holiday to Cape Town. I fell in love with the city whilst holidaying here 25 years ago and have yet to return to my hometown of Durban.
I started my career in the travel industry in 2001, booking a multitude of day tours in and around the Cape Peninsula. Following that, I worked for another safari travel agency in Cape Town for almost 5 years before moving over to Go2Africa in late 2006. The move over to Go2Africa felt like, and indeed was, a natural progression and has been the best development in my career. Curating bespoke African safaris allows me to share and showcase my passion for people, animals, conservation, and adventure in my incredible continent.
Watching a big pride of lions feast on a rhino carcass in the Sabi Sands Reserve, after it had been tusked by a large elephant over a water dispute.
I once arranged for my clients to renew their wedding vows (after 50 years together) while on safari at their luxury lodge, surrounded by their extended family – children and grandkids.
Use all your senses an familiarise yourself with the sights, smells, and sounds of the bush. Wildlife has different ways of communicating so taking the time to stop, listen, and record the sounds of the bush adds so much depth to your experience and overall level of enjoyment on safari. Also, travelling with your own set of binoculars to view wildlife is essential!
Combine 2 great family destinations. Be at the heart of Cape Town, just off the trendy Kloof street.
One of our favourite honeymoon trips. Stay at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront at the city's top hotels.
Private conservancies for off-the-beaten-track game viewing. Nature walks with Maasai guides.
