Neighbourhood

Situated on the lower slopes of Signal Hill overlooking Cape Town’s working harbour and Table Bay, the vibrant village of De Waterkant is one of the city’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Sidewalk cafés, sleek restaurants and avant-garde art galleries are tucked away amongst the brightly coloured facades of historical townhouses that date back to the 18century. It is also very conveniently located: a 10-minute drive takes you from De Waterkant to the V&A Waterfront, the beautiful beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton and the Table Mountain Cableway.

Best time to visit

Head to Cape Town from November to March for the city's long, hot summer days and picnics-on-the-beach nights. Beaches and restaurants overflow in the high season between December and January but you will still enjoy great weather and fewer crowds from February to April.

The May to September Cape winters are cosy and cold with rainy days interrupted by long sunny periods, perfect for taking long coastal drives along the Whale Coast or savouring classic Cape vintages at some of the country’s finest wine farms.
