Set in the hills of Pretoria, the administrative seat of South Africa’s government and a city known for its intense purple jacaranda tree blossoms, Castello di Monte offers 16th century Tuscan splendour, something you will immediately notice as you drive through rustic copper gates to reach the dramatic staircase, silk curtains and chandeliers of this luxurious guesthouse. Castello di Monte offers an idyllic and peaceful escape while still being close enough to access the city and the Rovos Rail station with ease.
Set off into the city centre of Pretoria for its shops, museums and galleries or head to nearby Johannesburg and Soweto to experience the rich drama of these two great historic cities. For something a little less adventurous, tee off with a round of golf on either of two nearby courses, catch up with some reading in the garden, have a swim in the pool, or relax in the sauna or steam shower.
Castello di Monte is an ideal stopover for Rovos passengers or those who wish to explore the astonishing Cradle of Humankind, which explores the origins of humankind.

Classic Room
Castello di Monte offers nine individually decorated rooms that include a Presidential Suite (complete with fireplace and 4-poster bed), a Honeymoon Suite (with hand-painted murals) and seven bedrooms. These Classic Rooms each feature air conditioning, satellite TV, underfloor heating, Internet facilities and an en suite bathroom.
Honeymoon Suite
The Honeymoon Suite includes the same features as the Classic Rooms with the added amenities of an oval spa bath, double vanities, a separate shower and a 4-poster bed. Spacious in its design, the Presidential Suite includes the standard amenities of all the rooms with the added features of a DVD player, separate shower room, walk-in closet and a fireplace.

Castello di Monte offers a sauna, steam shower and outdoor swimming pool set in a garden with a view of Pretoria’s characteristic hillocks.
There is an outdoor giant chess set for those wanting an intellectual challenge and plenty of comfortable nooks and crannies to settle down with a book and an iced drink.
