Overview

Perched on the banks of the Chobe River and set right next to the border of Chobe National Park, Chobe Safari Lodge is an exceptionally well-placed accommodation in this legendary big game region. One of the longest-standing lodges on the river, this down-to-earth lodge is a great choice for travellers who want to experience the dramatic wildlife of the Chobe River - where elephants and buffalo crowd the mid-year dry-season river banks in their hundreds if not thousands – and also see ‘the Smoke that Thunders’ at Victoria Falls too.

It is a well-appointed lodge, complete with a swimming pool, bar, restaurant, squash court and spa. Activities on offer include morning and afternoon game drives, sunset boat cruises and day-trips to Victoria Falls in neighbouring Zimbabwe. You can also visit a local village for an insight into life on the river and to learn about the culture and traditions of the area.

Chobe Safari Lodge is a very short drive from Kasane Airport, the regional travel hub, making it convenient to combine with other lodges across Botswana in safari areas such as the Okavango Delta.

The lodge’s restaurant, two bars and lounge have wonderful river views and flow out onto wooden decks that surround the large swimming pool. The in-house health and beauty spa offers a range of indulgent therapies and you will also find a safari shop and squash court on site. There are several Internet hotspots around the lodge. A babysitting service is available at extra cost.

A culinary highlight is the dinner cruise, a 3-course buffet served aboard one of the lodge’s boats as you cruise the Chobe River by starlight.

Chobe Safari Lodge was obviously different from Moremi but its riverside position, facilities and quality of accommodation was good. The variety of food for both dinner and breakfast was very good. The only issue we had was a long wait for our room t o be ready on arrival. The afternoon river cruise was stunning both for the variety and number of animals/reptiles etc and for the vista in which we viewed them all. The morning game drive was only ok but sometimes a safari is just pot luck!

Chobe Safari Lodge - again fantastic food. Lovely area overlooking the river to sit and relax and have a few beers. The room was really comfortable too. We went on a jeep safari and the sunset cruise. I would thoroughly recommend the sunset cruis e, we saw many more animals than on jeep safari and close up too.

We had a great time on our African Safari adventure. It was a trip of a lifetime for me. The safari lodges (both Elephant Valley Lodge & Chapungu Lodge) were much more than I expected. The staff was very friendly and welcoming at both lodges. The guides/trackers were knowledgeable and made the experience of being in the bush enjoyable. I liked the Botswana lodge by Chobe National Park best. The guide was fun and knowledgeable and made the safari just what I expected. It had more of the authentic feel, but still with the comforts of a luxury lodge.

Chobe Safari Lodge was so beautiful. Right on the River. Our room had a river view. It had mosquito netting which we used. It was trying to figure out how to envelope yourself. All the tours were fab. Saw lions within 10 minutes of the safari - a pri de and them a male courting a female who did not seem interested.

Our favorite place was Chobe as the lodge there is just gorgeous! Everything was perfect. The game drives were full of animal sightings with knowledgeable guides to tell us all about them. The food was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and the r oom was very nice. I can’t say enough good things about this place and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

"Chobe Safari Lodge was a very pleasant place to stay. The room was very nice and buffet food was good. The highlight of our stay in Chobe was the actual safari tours. We were fortunate to see a great deal, particularly in the afternoon outings."

In fact, the trip was amazing. I never thought we would see so much game on our drives - especially in Chobe and Savute. The camps/lodges were also wonderful - especially the Chobe Game Lodge and Savute Safari Lodge. The food was superb throughout o ur trip. I'm sure I gained weight. Guest services were outstanding, especially at the Chobe Game Lodge and Savute Safari Lodge - I can't express into words how wonderful these two lodges were. Superb!

The chobe Safari Lodge was excellent we had a balcony overlooking the Chobe River. We saw a lot of Elephants, Hippos, crocodiles and birds both during the River Cruise and the speed boat cruise. The Speed boat is better since we could get closer to the animals. We took 2 game drives inside the Chobe national park, on the Morning drive (6AM) we encounted Spottle Hyennas and they said we were lucky to see a Lioness with her 2 cubs (they were so close to us), we also saw elephants, warhogs, impalas, giraffes, kudu, and etc. Oh, by the way, an Indian restaurant opened 3 months ago and it was a blessing for us. The buffet dinner at the lodge had little selection for our taste buds. If you get Indian clients tell them there is a VERY GOOD INDIAN RESTAURANT close to Chobe Safari Lodge.

"Chobe Safari Lodge was a perfect accommodation for us, especially traveling with in-laws who had never been on safari - it was comfortable yet rustic enough to feel "the experience" of the river."

Travelling through Chobe and ( in a certain way the area around RUNDU (NAM)) was superb. The combination of beautifull landscapes, sunsets, animals, nice population, it all came together. I said to myself when heading around Chobe: They saved the b est for last. And that was how I felt about it.

A hotel not a lodge! Very good facilities I felt a bit oppressed at times by the number of staff who hover around at meal times. This was actually not only my opinion. However a very pleasant place. River cruise was spectacular in terms of game and s unsets. Game drive very short - less than 2 hours - but we were lucky to see lion and leopard in that time. Without this I would have been very frustrated
