Overview

Hog Hollow Country Lodge is situated in a private nature reserve, with views of the surrounding valleys and Tsitsikamma Mountains. The lodge is situated alongside a central dam, creating a private oasis on the edge of an indigenous forest.

Relax by the pool overlooking the Matjes River Gorge, or stroll along the forest's walking trails to see the elephants at the Knysna Elephant Sanctuary. Keurbooms Beach and Nature's Valley are just a short drive from the lodge. Book a boat ride out to sea, and get close to the whales and dolphins that visit this coastline. Whales calve in the area between July and September, while the dolphins play here all year round.

"Hog's Hollow is a great place, the rooms are decorated with so much love to detail, the atmosphere is relaxed, the staff very friendly and efficient, the swimming pool is nice and the view spectacular. It was like a piece of paradise."

So glad you recommend this place. So very glad. Beautiful place to stay and so much good stuff to see nearby. Great staff - we arrived early and they made a real effort to get our room ready and let us check in early. Loved the communal dining; i t just completely makes that place. My other half made use of their stables down the road and went riding twice – she told me the staff there were also brilliant and she enjoyed the rides. If the weather had been better this may have got 10 /10 – but they can’t be blamed for that!

Our last stop and we were so happy to stay for 3 nights, such a beautiful place. Such a beautiful comunual dining area and we greatly enjoyed our meals there. We did lots of family adventure things here and Jas even did the world's biggest bungy ju mp. A gorgeous part of the world and you could do as little or as much as you wanted. There is one place that I wanted to mention to you, as we were driving toward Plettenberg Bay, about 15 minutes outside the town we saw this place call 'The Heath' and pulled in. For families this is a great mention as a lunch stop, it consists of 2 gorgeous curio/souvenier/nick nack shops, a cheese shop and a cafe that serves the most amazing food. Best of all it has the hughest outdoor playground with picnic tables dotted around, so parents with kids can be served the food/wine/coffee while their kids are happy playing, seriously no parent could ask for more. Happy kids and happy parents all at the same time. We actually drove back out here the next day, even though we had to go back out the other side of town from Hog Hollow, just because it was so lovely.

My parents were very very happy and satisfied by the trip. They were very appreciative of the guide for the garden route tour. When they'd mentioned about their dietary requirements he made an effort to take them to lunch at places they would like the food and spoke to the chef at 'Hog Hollow Country Lodge' about the same. Also thank the chef at the lodge for taking the time to speak to my parents and preparing a good meal. They had a great time.

Hog Hollow’s staff service was probably the best I have experienced including some fairly highly rated 5 star hotels that I have been to. Rooms were very nice in a beautiful setting and a great location overall to access many sights and activities. I t is absolutely FANTASTIC. Lovely rooms, incredible service, excellent food, nice pool area. Good base to see all the sights and activities that the Knysna/Plettenberg area has to offer. Nothing was too much trouble - they even washed our car without us asking!

"The accommodation and setting were magnificent and we enjoyed having dinner on the deck and lounging in the hammock. We went to the local market and to Plettemberg Bay and to Knysna and enjoyed each ."

Hogs Hollow is absolutely lovely, the location, the rooms, the food is fantastic and the hospitality and service the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend Hog Hollow to anyone. Joe had hot milk and a gingerbread man by his bed when we reti red and reading books for his age group. For a hotel who aren't mad on children he was treated so well. There is so much to see in that area we could have done with another few nights. Not a place for people who don't like monkeys they often stole breakfast off the tables which we found great fun but might firghten others.

This was our favourite. It's a stunning place and we were ready for pampering service. The location was close enough to Plettenberg Bay and even Knysna for a bit more activity but we were happy to putter around. One more night would have been fant astic but maybe it was best for our stomachs - the food was fab and we started to feel the weight gain!

Hog Hollow - was also very nice. Great bungalows and good set up with kids downstairs. Food was the best here ( and priciest:) ) during our trip. We managed to get to the main table only the last eve as families with kids were placed to the kiddie ta ble, with a good reason.
