Linkwasha Camp
Linkwasha Camp is considered one of Zimbabwe's best, with outstanding service, location and design. It lies within Hwange National Park's prolific Linkwasha Concession and guests have access to the Ngamo Plains, which come alive during the Green Season with sizable herds of eland, zebra and waterbuck. Predators include side-striped jackals, honey badgers and bat-eared foxes and birders are spoilt for choice with no less than five species of vulture, plenty of migrants and raptors like Dickinson's kestrel, martial eagles and red-necked falcons.
Consisting of seven tents and one family unit, Linkwasha Camp has been designed to be as eco-friendly and energy-efficient as possible, while still maintaining guests' creature comforts. There are multiple decks and levels to ensure panoramic views in all directions, especially over the nearby waterhole. A pool keeps you comfortable in summer while a cosy ‘winter lounge' with a fireplace and library keeps you warm in the cooler months.
A private game-drive vehicle is available for hire and guided walks are considered one of the Linkwasha Conservancy's highlights. In addition to visits to the nearby community and lessons on conservation from the resident ecologist, you can also spend an evening under the stars on the protected sleep-out platform – one of the best ways to experience the sights and sounds of the African night!

The excellent hospitality extends to the meals where even the snacks on game drives – like mini pies, biscuits and cakes – are homemade from scratch. There are several options at camp for private dining as well an area for communal dining and a convivial bar.
Opened in May 2015 this is Hwange's most luxurious camp. It offers panoramic views of the bush and watering hole, making game viewing from your tent posisble. There is a pool for those glorious hot summer days and a winter lounge with fireplace for the cold winter days. Game viewing was great and I loved sharing my sundowners with the Hwange Elephants.

Linkwasha was amazing and lovely, and one of our favorite places. The accommodations were superb and well-designed, the food and dining arrangements were excellent and the staff were beyond accommodating and welcoming. I recall asking Ramona why she picked it, and her response was a “different experience;” and it was amazing. We did not want to leave. One night we forgot to turn our heat on before we went to dinner and it was cold…the next night, we had electric blankets! We were always on the lookout for herding elephants, and we were fortunate to be a single couple with one guide the entire time. We opted to go to an African Village We met the chief of his tribe of 500 or so. His name was Johnson and his wife's name was Dorothy. He told us to marry Dorothy, he had to give Dorothy's family 6 cows. He is a member of the Nbelele Tribe. The chief showed us his meeting area and then we were taken to his modest home. He lives in an area with 13 members of his family in several different huts. His house took 2 years to build and was made up of a room with a TV, a Bedroom and another room assumedly for children. He had a solar panel and a generator that produced enough for TV and electricity. He then told us that his wife was a designer and showed us her goods which included all kinds of African-type merchandise some commercial and others made by her. It was a special experience.
