Overview of LUX* Belle Mare

Mauritius, East coast

LUX* Belle Mare is an elegant beachfront hotel on the East Coast of Mauritius, and is situated on Belle Mare beach, a beautiful turquoise lagoon. The hotel offers excellent family-friendly facilities, including a kids’ club.

The lagoon is a safe haven for water sports and swimming, while the long stretch of white, sandy beach in front of the hotel is dotted with thatched umbrellas. Try your hand at windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving. Land-based activities include tennis, yoga, mountain-biking through nearby nature trails and horse riding on Belle Mare beach.

There is plenty to do at LUX* Belle Mare. The Tea House has nearly 90 different blends to sample, and you can try a Mari Kontan rum and beer tasting at the LUX* Beer Academy. In the evenings, head to the beach for open-air movies or dance the night away to live music and a DJ.

Dining

The variety of spices and ingredients from distant shores are a source of inspiration to LUX* Belle Mare’s executive chef, an expert in the art of French and cosmopolitan cuisine.

Rive Gauche is the hotel’s main poolside, al fresco restaurant, serving beautifully prepared Mauritian dishes. The restaurant also hosts gala and themed evenings.

La Mediterranee’s main focus is delicious barbecues and light lunches featuring typical Mauritian and Mediterranean dishes served right on the beach.

East is a new restaurant concept which brings an Asian flair to LUX* Belle Mare. A variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai dishes are served in an elegant and contemporary restaurant.

Senses restaurant is aptly named as the chef prepares meals full of fragance and flavour all with a Indian flair. Enjoy dishes made with fresh herbs and spices, and the finest local ingredients.

Club Savanne is a piano bar with an African jazz theme. This is a great place to enjoy your favourite cocktail or a Cuban cigar.

Monsoon Lounge & Bar offers an all-day service of light lunches and cocktails.

Duck Laundry offers contemporary Chinese dishes from its open kitchen, and LUX* Belle Mare also has a food truck where you can get delicious ‘fast food’ during the day.

One of my favourites on the island of Mauritius. This luxury hotel has thought of everything! Not only are they offering what one would expect of a 5 star resort but have gone above and beyond, always with the guest experience in mind. Craft beer and coffee roasting to an on site food truck and outdoor movies....to name but a few.

Hotel was fabulous as was the majority of the trip,

For the return trip, having spoken to the rep at the hotel and agreed to a time of 7am for a pick up, we subsequently received a card saying they would pick us up at 6am. For a 10am flight this was ridiculous, but when I spoke to them and asked for it to be changed to 7am I was told that they had to speak to their manager. They then came back and said they would pick us up at 6.30am. Where is the customer service in that? We decided to take a separate hotel taxi and I paid for that separately so I wouldn't have to go with the allocated transfer company. We left at 7am, and were through passport control by 8.15am, with plenty of time before the flight. The iompression we got was that the transfer company were not thinking about their customers, more about their own timetable, and with getting people to the airport 3 15 hours before the flight the wait was not their concern.

Very very poor indeed. I strongly suggest that you reconsider using this company.
