Mthembu Lodge nestles on a spectacular bend of the Imfolozi River and has a strong focus on conservation and community upliftment – active participants in sustainable eco-tourism practices. The lodge is entirely off the grid and has been carefully hand-built by members of the Mthembu clan, stone by stone - enveloping you in African luxury. KwaZulu-Natal’s Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve is Africa’s oldest declared reserve, known for its prolific wildlife sightings and allowing you to walk in the footsteps of military genius, King Shaka Zulu - who once used this land as his hunting ground. In the 1950’s, Dr. Ian Player launched ‘Operation Rhino’ here, and saved the southern white rhino from the brink of extinction.
These lands fostered the rise of the mighty Zulu nation, and is where a unique combination of Zulu history, culture and wilderness experiences come together to create a safari sojourn unlike any other. Plus, the northern region of Kwa-Zulu Natal is known for its game reserves and gorgeous coastlines, making it the ideal location for a bush and beach getaway.
