Overview of Serian Nkorombo Camp
One of the most attractive features of Serian Nkorombo – in addition to its various settings on the Mara River and proximity to the Great Migration – is its highly flexible approach to all aspects of a guest’s safari. From choosing a timetable and menu that suits you to having a private guide and vehicle (or even the whole 5-tent camp) all to yourself, the aim at Serian Nkorombo is an untrammelled and wholly authentic safari experience.
Nestled among groves of wild olive and orange croton trees as well as near a popular salt lick in a position that changes annually, this mobile camp is perfect for serious campers who would like photographic, film-making or even cooking safaris in a landscape brimming with big cats, crocodiles and huge herds of plains game. Guides can speak six international languages (including German and French) meaning you won’t ever miss a sighting.

Standard Tent
Each of the five Meru-style suites are positioned for privacy and to maximise the glorious views of the Mara River. Large and comfortable beds are draped in mosquito netting, while gauzed windows and fans keep the ambient temperature cool. The en suite bathrooms are fitted with basins, flushing toilets and safari bucket showers that are filled with hot water whenever you require. The outside verandahs have a cosy seating area, which is prefect for whiling away the afternoon with a pair of binoculars trained on the river and the life surrounding it. At night, your tent will be ablaze with the soft, warm glow of traditional lanterns.
General Facilities
One of Serian Nkorombo Camp’s charms is its authentic simplicity without compromising on comfort or service (the staff-to-guest ratio is 3:1). The tastefully furnished main mess tent perches overlooking the Mara River, which is alive with grunting hippos and basking crocodiles. The canvas and wood tent, which is furnished with candelabra, trunks and traditional Lamu daybeds, houses the dining room and lounge area and faces out to the blazing fire pit, where long evenings are often spent stargazing and sharing tales of adventure in the wilds. Although there is no electricity available in the accommodation tents to keep Serian Nkorombo’s ecological impact as low as possible, there is a central charging area for mobile phones, camera batteries, laptops and tablets.
