Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (Livingstone)
Toka Leya is a secluded safari camp located upstream from Victoria Falls on the Zambian banks of the Zambezi River. Set within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, this contemporary tented camp is shaded by a canopy of jackalberry and waterberry trees and features an expansive deck where you can relax and take in amazing river and island views.
There is plenty to do in the area: take a tour of Victoria Falls – the world wonder is only 20 minutes away – and go on a game drive in the Mosi-oa-Tunya Park. You can also watch the sunset while on a river cruise, go fishing or explore Livingstone town. This region is known as Africa’s adventure capital and many come here for the epic white-water rafting or bungee jumping; more sedate activities include elephant-back safaris, scenic flights and bird-watching trips. Ideal for families with children over six years old, Toka Leya has three family tents with two bedrooms each, and the camp’s authentic pizzas are a real hit with the youngsters.
Each of the 12 tented have private outdoor bathtubs and drop-down sitting areas. Relax in the wellness area with a massage, Pilates or yoga or work up a sweat in the air-conditioned, fully-equipped fitness room.

Stretching out to the east and west of Toka Leya’s main area are the camp’s 12 en-suite safari-style tents, inter-connected by a web of wooden walkways.
Each air-conditioned tent features a sleeping and lounge area that leads out via large glass sliding doors onto a wrap-around balcony and an expansive drop-down sitting area – a wonderful place to unwind and watch the river slide by. Each en suite bathroom consists of double basins and both an indoor and outdoor shower. Every private deck also has a romantic outdoor bathtub; enjoy a soothing soak with an iced drink under the southern constellations…
The three family tents at Toka Leya each feature two bedrooms: the main bedroom plus a smaller room with twin beds.
Toka Leya’s main area is a series of inter-connected wooden decks built around enormous waterside trees.
Sheltered by a canvas roof but open-sided to maximise the beautiful river views are the camp’s various contemporary-styled sitting areas, the dining room and bar.
Next to the bar is a refreshing infinity pool, also with gorgeous views of the Zambezi. After dinner, meander down to the fire pit on the riverbank to gaze up at the stars and listen to the sounds of the African night.
For a touch of pampering, try the health and beauty spa at Toka Leya, also situated on the banks of the Zambezi. You can enjoy Pilates, yoga or a soothing massage as the river meanders past. The air-conditioned gym has free weights, a treadmill and an exercise bike.

Toka Leya Lodge was beautiful and the staff were great; since we were the only ones there, we got very personalized service & they treated us like royalty – even made me a birthday cake! There is no set schedule here so we planned things with the guide the day before. We were taken to Vic Falls for a walking tour, and then I convinced my mom to Zip-Line with me for my birthday. That afternoon we opted to do a game-drive which we hadn’t planned on doing, and it turned out to be fantastic – we saw a lot of animals, including a herd of rhinos (my favorite) being guarded. Another day would be good for more activities on the river and a tour of the towns (Livingstone & Vic Falls), but we saw a lot while there despite the short stay.

The stay at Toka Leya was a pleasant surprise because I had not expected so many up close animal experiences, nor such fine facilities and hospitality in Zambia.
Toka Leya was very nice, everybody thrilled to get to the Falls, a spectacular experience as always. Very good guide. A morning boat trip on Zambezi before transfer could be arranged without problem.
The staff at Toka Leya were fabulous. They were all very kind and friendly and it was a really lovely place. The river sunset was wonderful.
