Overview

Imagine a honeymoon villa perfectly perched on a huge granite boulder to watch the sunrise over the Indian Ocean.

Consider having a talcum-powder beach all to yourselves and the luxury of a private pool and fire pit set in an indigenous takamaka forest... Villa 11 on North Island in the Seychelles is the last word in tropical opulence.

An ecological success story that is home to ancient tortoises and the legendary coco-de-mer palm, North Island allows a handful of guests to enjoy unparalleled sea kayaking, scuba diving and idyllic wining and dining. Although unashamedly rustic in design, North Island also has conveniences like a helipad, spa, gym and on-site kitchen gardens that supply just-picked ingredients for the ‘no menu’ carte du jour.

An ingenious design that incorporates multiple levels and natural materials to create the ultimate adults’ ‘tree house’, Villa 11 is a mould-breaking retreat in a totally private section of beautiful North Island.

Style & Décor

Designed to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding forest and beach, the villa is a charming collection of driftwood, stone sculptures, white textiles and delicate shell curtains, all across several levels and under high thatch ceilings. Admire ornate Tanzanian wood carvings, while at night, be cocooned in billowing muslin and soft, golden candlelight.

Neighbourhood

A tropical oasis lying north of the archipelago's main island of Mahé, North Island is an Indian Ocean paradise of luminous, palm-lined beaches, verdant forest and rugged, rocky outcrops. Seeking to capture the very essence of luxurious island living, the island has been rehabilitated to its original natural state and indigenous fauna and flora abound. Birdsong fills the air and crystal-clear waters beckon you in to snorkel or dive off untouched, teeming coral reefs. Adventure-lovers can enjoy deep-sea fishing or sea kayaking while the island's winding forest trails are perfect for hiking or mountain biking. There are four beaches – East, West, Honeymoon and Sunset – to choose from and the island also has a library, spa and gym.

Suitability

Honeymooners and couples seeking untrammelled romance will love Villa 11.

Best time to visit

Its islands scattered in the Indian Ocean just below the equator, the Seychelles Archipelago generally enjoys warm, beach-perfect weather all year round. The hottest months are December to April and the wettest are January and February; it generally rains in short tropical downpours before the sun comes out again.

Diving is excellent all year round but if you are after crystal-clear conditions (with visibility sometimes up to a staggering 30 metres) then the best time to visit the Seychelles is April and May, and again in October and November.

Special Notes

The villa has an electric golf cart for getting around the island in complete comfort.

Rooms

Kitchen

The small kitchen allows your personal chef to whip up whatever you fancy, using just-caught seafood and just-harvested herbs and vegetables from the island’s sustainable garden. Enjoy with a glass of perfectly paired wine from the private cellar on your own deck.

Master Bedroom

From the king-sized, 4-poster bed, gaze out onto the ivory beach, peacock sea and lush emerald vegetation. With touches of brass, mahogany, muslin and stone, no detail has been spared to create a tranquil haven.

Bathrooms

The lavish indoor-outdoor bathroom is even more romantic than the bedroom... a double Roman-style tub measures 1.2 by 2m, allowing couples to enjoy a bubbly soak with the Champagne always in reach from the bath-side ledge. The bathroom also has a soothing rain show and pretty shell curtains.

Living & Dining Area

Outdoor and indoor spaces merge effortlessly throughout the villa's open-plan design with thatch fronds framing the spectacular views. At night, the living area transforms into your own cinema with a large screen to catch up on the world’s most romantic movies.

Outside Area

You will be spoilt for choice between a private gazebo, daybeds, swimming pool and a fire pit, all set on cascading terraces among organic stone sculptures.
