A gracious Victorian villa with a Table Mountain backdrop, The Walden House is set in Cape Town’s smart Tamboerskloof district. It is close enough to the city centre to walk there but far enough removed to enjoy peace and quiet in a leafy environment. The location also puts you within easy reach of Table Mountain and as well as the golden beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton.

Immaculately restored to its original splendour, The Walden House offers seven charming suites to its discerning guests, including a honeymoon suite. The old-world ambience is complimented by contemporary notes and a relaxed simplicity. High ceilings and wooden floors open out to manicured gardens and mountain views, and each suite has a flat-screen television, mini-bar, air conditioning and wireless Internet access. Service is personalised and attentive but discreet.

Complete with secure parking for your rental car and a reservations manager who will make restaurant reservations for you, this boutique accommodation is ideal for independent-minded guests who are looking for an urban edge to their Cape Town experience. The neighbourhood has eateries, art galleries and boutiques within strolling distance and the atmosphere is fashionable and creative.

Standard Double Room

The Walden House has seven elegant rooms, each individually decorated in a modern style with old-world details. All with an en suite bathroom, the rooms are very well appointed and come complete with air conditioning, heated towel rails, free Wi-Fi, a mini-bar and a tea-and-coffee station plus a flat-screen television with satellite service. Beds are queen-sized or twins that can be changed into a king-sized bed. Four of the rooms offer direct access to the beautiful garden.

Luxury Garden Suite

The Luxury Garden Suite and the Honeymoon Suite both have a separate bathtub and shower in their bathrooms; the Honeymoon Suite also has a fireplace and direct access to the balcony.

The main villa’s lounge is warm and inviting and leads into the dining room where there is a fireplace and views over the garden. Outdoors, The Walden House has a splash pool and sundeck with loungers. A reservations manager is on hand to assist with requests, and guests enjoy a complimentary laundry and dry cleaning service as well as secure parking, free Wi-Fi Internet and 24-hour security.

A wholesome buffet-style breakfast is included at The Walden House, courtesy of the in-house chef, and is served in the dining room in the main house. Cape Town’s well-deserved reputation for food and wine means that there are fine-dining venues nearby as well as many other more casual restaurants, coffee shops and delicatessens for lunch and dinner. It is a short drive to even more dining options in the city centre or at the V&A Waterfront.

What a lovely introduction to Southern Africa the Walden House was. Exquisitely appointed clean rooms, super breakfasts (loved the coffee and dark bread), and friendly, helpful staff with a calm demeanor that echoed the accommodation. A gem in what c ould be an uncomfortable situation - new person in a new world.

The Walden House accommodations were in a fantastic area of town. It was very easy to navigate to great restaurants and nightlife in the area. There was a nice mix of guests at Walden House and we were able to meet and spend some time with other gue sts out in the courtyard the second day we were there.

The location of Walden House was perfect and the stay was just great. Again the staff was very warm and friendly and we loved our room which was nice and clean. The location really helped us get in and around the city and also all point of attraction s. I would highly recommend staying there again. We were really happy with the service we received at Kruger and Walden House as it exceeded our expectations. We would recommend everybody to stay at these places. It's getting difficult for me to express in words about our experience. Our entire trip was a very overwhelming experience for me. If I get an opportunity I would like to settle down in SA.

Cape Town - Walden House was wonderful. We had a great breakfast, and the location was top notch! We walked to Miller's Thumb for an awesome dinner one night, and got to spend a lot of time seeing Cape Point and the V & A Waterfront. We had a sunset cruise where we were the only two people on the boat and the captain gave us an amazing history lesson about Cape Town. We didn't get to go up Table Mountain due to the weather, but the view from the bottom is spectacular as well!

Arrived back in Manchester yesterday and still not come down to earth after the most amazing holiday we have ever had. All places you recommended were superb and as you informed everyone we were celebrating 25 years of marriage there were all sorts o f special surprises waiting for us. An upgraded room at Walden, a complimentary bottle of champagne at Ocean 11 and a private meal at Pondoro. Everyone made us so welcome and we wanted for nothing.
