There are almost no words to describe the experience. The villas are extraordinary, the staff is so kind and professional and helpful, the rangers and trackers were wonderful, the food was absolutely incredible. They have thought of everything there. I assumed that with my Gluten intolerance they would simply tell me what I could not eat on the menu each day. Instead, they took the menu and made sure each dish could be made with gluten free ingredients. Very special service. It was a magical few days.

Lion Sands was also amazing – our guide, Jack, was enthusiastic and made every effort to help us find the animals we were interested in.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge was over the top and so much more than we could have ever imagined!!! From the moment we got there, we felt at home and the private villas were spectacular!

Lion Sands was spectacular! I can’t say enough about the staff. Ivory Lodge was beautiful BUT we found ourselves wanting to visit and talk with many people and River Lodge had more of that (for privacy and seclusion – Ivory could not be beat and we did meet some great folks there)

Lion Sands was both luxurious and yet primative all at the same time. They took such excellent care of us – treating us like royalty (as they should for that price) the whole time. Again, would highly recommend it. We saw so many animals close up, including the big 5. Our room, which included it’s own plunge pool, fire place, and fully stocked bar (all inclusive) was right on the Sabi river with an amazing view!

Lion Sands was brilliant. We loved the staff and we saw the big five in 24 hours. The food was outstanding and the night in Ivory Lodge was something else. Really special – we had the best view and were welcomed by 16 or so elephants drinking in the river in front of us. We loved it.

The safari was amazing. We saw the big 5 in the 1st 2 hours of our game drive. The Lion Sands was wonderful and the people catered to our every need. Our Ranger, Gwave, was excellent. The animals were amazing and the food was wonderful… a real treat to start off the vacation and not have to think or plan anything – it was all cared for at the Lion Sands.

We lucked out with a fantastic ranger and a great small group of people to go on game drives with. Three nights was great but we were sad to go. We didn’t expect to see that many animals and by the end of our first full day at Lion Sands, we had seen the Big Five! On our first game drive, we even saw a leopard with its kill (an impala) up in a tree – physically crunching the poor impala, lifeless legs dangling, and at the base of the tree was a hyena waiting for its seconds! It was amazing. Keith and I didn’t expect to see anything like that.

I had a fantastic time in the Sabi Reserve. Everything from the lodge, room, staff and the food were exceptional. The game drives were the highlight of the days and our Ranger and tracker were very knowledgeable and exceptional guides. Traveling alone can get a lonely but with the many activities and friendly staff the days were filled with heaps to do. Definitely an experience I will always treasure.

The people at the Ivory Lodge were outstanding – couldn’t do enough for us and they all were so pleasant and personable. Our guide, Yolinda, was excellent and I couldn’t imagine one better then her. The food was five star as were the accomodations. Game viewing was excellent and not a mosquito in sight. I really think July/August would be the best time of the year for game viewing. We saw everything except the elusive cheata.

It is amazing and you are right about the room being more beautiful than what the photos show. I guess it’s because the villas have such an understated, clean and modern elegance, such a nice change to the usual dark African theme that most other lodges have.
