Itinerary
Day to day
An early start ensures you are able to make the most of the day as you travel from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A light aircraft will take you to Kihihi where you will be met by a guide who will drive you the hour and a half to Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp. Lunch is served upon arrival, following which you can spend the afternoon relaxing at camp or experience a community tour.
Next morning, after breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on your gorilla trek. At about 08h30, your group will enter the park to track one of the habituated family groups that call Bwindi home. Once you locate a family, you will be given an hour to watch these incredible creatures as they interact with one another and their environment. On your return to camp, enjoy a chilled beverage around the fire while sharing stories of the day’s soul-stirring encounters before retiring to bed for a restful slumber.
Your final day in Bwindi can be spent relaxing at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp or taking part in optional activities, charged separately to your tour itinerary. Choose from game drives, forest walks or birding walks in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, or a Batwa Tribe Experience, any of which are great for cooling down from your trekking experience before heading back to Entebbe tomorrow.
Your journey continues as you lift off in a light aircraft that will carry you into the Serengeti from Entebbe. Keep your camera close, as you’ll have the chance to get some great aerial shots of the wildlife that call these plains home.
You will spend three nights at Kichakani Serengeti Camp. This extraordinary escape is where you can witness the movement of a million-plus wildebeest and zebra as they make their way on their dramatic migratory journey through Africa. Luxury tents are packed up and moved along in a style reminiscent of the early days of safari travel.
Wake Up in Serengeti paradise and take a short charter flight to Manyara where your guide will take you on a local game drive. Afterwards you will travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater Camp where you can rest and prepare for an exciting adventure to follow the next day.
A morning at Overnight Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp provides time for relaxing at camp. Day eight begins with a hearty breakfast before you head down into Ngorongoro Crater. The world’s oldest intact volcanic caldera, the lush vegetation growing on the floor of the crater supports about 30 000 animals. Zebra and wildebeest account for about half of this number, but there are plenty of gazelle, buffalo, warthog, elephant and predators. The lake in the middle of the crater is home to thousands of flamingos whose shimmering pink feathers create a sight that is second only to the Serengeti sunset.
You will bid farewell with the saying, “Safari njema safari salema” (“safe journey, good journey in Swahili”) as you leave Manyara and on to JRO airport. Then it’s on to your next destination with your heart full treasured memories.
