The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is one of the world’s most unusual wildlife destinations. Its walls are the unbroken caldera of an ancient volcano and, over the course of millennia, the minerals on the crater floor left from the last eruption created an extremely fertile soil that supports plenty of grazing for plains game.
The lush grassland attracted as many animals as could make the journey over its steep rim and today, Ngorongoro is home to 30 000 mammals, most of which never leave its protected paradise. As a result, the Crater offers some of the best game viewing in Africa, including zebra, eland, elephant and a parade of predators, from jackals and hyenas to leopards and lions. It's not unusual to see all members of the Big 5 in a single day.
Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Crater’s rim valley, close to the access road that leads to the crater floor. This is an authentic tented camp with spacious tents, each with an en suite bathroom. In addition to superb and varied game viewing, you can also have a cultural encounter in a traditional Maasai village. Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp offers a classic tented experience where wildlife and scenic beauty are the central attractions.
