We had a marvellous time at the Sanbona lodge. The rooms were delightful and the rangers were very knowledgeable , courteous and friendly. We had great adventures and learned a great deal about the flora and the fauna as well as some insights into conservation. It was good to see the animals that were being monitored using radio collars and not the more invasive chips. I would highly recommend both the area and the lodge and although sometimes we had to search hard to find the animals at others they were close at hand and we managed to see a good variety, including the white lions up close – a real treat.

The accommodation was excellent, the Lodge itself was very well positioned, each lodge feeling very private within the heart of the reserve.
The game drives were amazing, we saw Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, Rhinos, Springbok, and much more. We only had two other people in our jeep so I enjoyed having a small group in the car with the ranger. The ranger (Alvyn) was very knowledgeable about not only the animals but the plants as well. He stopped whenever we asked him to, so we could take pictures of the beautiful scenery.
The game reserve at Dwyka was a terrific addition to the trip – but not in the way I expected, having been at the game reserve at Zulu Nyala, I was expecting to see far more game – but it was a different experience. I really appreciated the luxury of the accomodations – but also the fact that I was the only American guest there! Made for a more interesting and enriching cultural experience. I do have to say, if that was the only game reserve that I had visited – I would have been deeply disappointed in the game viewing aspect.
