Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is set in one of Namibia's most remote destinations: the Purros Conservancy in the dramatic Kaokoland area, deep in far north Namibia and home to the striking and enigmatic Himba people. The uniquely designed terracotta lodge and cottages are decorated in a rich and sensuous fusion of pastel colours with ethnic touches and locally carved furnishing adding to the ambience.
Take in the spectacular wrap-around views of the river bed, stark desert scenery and distant purple mountains but the highlight of your stay will be venturing out into the wild desert on professionally guided morning and afternoon nature drives in open 4x4 vehicles in search of unique desert animals. Night drives under spectacular starry skies, early morning desert walks and cultural visits to the local Himba village are also memorable experiences. Okahirongo Elephant Lodge works closely with the Desert Lion Project to conserve Namibia's beautiful and uniquely desert-adapted big cats.
