Upon arrival at Livingstone Airport, a driver will greet you and take you through to Tongabezi Lodge, an all-inclusive luxury retreat nestled along the lush banks of the Zambezi River. Get settled into your room, your home for the next three nights, where you will get to wake up to the most beautiful views of the Zambezi River each day.

After settling in and taking a moment to soak in the serenity of Tongabezi, head into Livingstone town to see the iconic Victoria Falls. Known as ‘Musi au Tunya’ or ‘The Smoke That Thunders,’ the Falls’ location can be seen from quite a distance away due to the cloud of spray created by the sheer volume of water cascading over the edge. Indulge in the wide variety of adventurous and scenic activities. From thrilling options like white-water rafting, zip-lining and bungee jumping to scenic helicopter flips over the Falls, a dip in Devil’s Pool right on the edge of the Falls, an afternoon high tea at the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel, there is something for everyone.

Tongabezi’s riverside position allows for plenty opportunity to explore the Zambezi. Soak in the river’s beauty at sunset on a cruise, enjoy a candle-lit dinner on the floating barge or a picnic lunch on a nearby island, and enjoy motorboat safaris, giving you a taste of the remarkable safari experiences awaiting you in South Luangwa.

Head back to Livingstone’s international airport with your driver, where you will board your light aircraft flight to South Luangwa National Park. Upon arrival at Mfuwe Airport, your guide will meet you for a road transfer to your safari home, Shawa Luangwa Camp.

Nestled along the tree-lined banks of the seasonal Luangwa River, in the wildlife-rich Nsefu sector of South Luangwa, Shawa Luangwa is perfectly located for exceptional game viewing. Whether on foot, in an electric game viewer vehicle, or from the solar-powered boat, each activity offers a fresh perspective of the abundant wildlife and their habitat, while ensuring a minimised carbon footprint. Wildlife encounters continue even within the camp’s vicinity, as animals gather near the cool river waters and the shaded riverbanks attract a variety of nesting birds. The Nsefu Sector is also a popular area for leopards—so keep an eye out for these incredible cats.

Shawa Luangwa’s comfortably furnished eco-tents blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings, with minimal impact on the environment. The lush riverine greenery and tall leafy trees provide natural privacy while keeping you cool and shaded. Adding a romantic touch, the open-air bathtub with scenic views offers ultimate relaxation after an exhilarating day exploring this remarkable destination. Just picture sinking into a hot, lantern-lit bath listening to the hippos below and the soft flowing of the river beyond reflecting the starry night sky.
