Overview of Leroo La Tau

Situated on the western bank of the Boteti River with the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in the distance, Leroo La Tau offers a stunning seasonal game-viewing experience as wildlife can be seen congregating along the river or on the river bed in the drier months. Particularly between November and May when the large herds of wildebeest and zebra pass through the area.

Spend your time at Leroo La Tau on game drives into the national park or experience thrilling night drives in search of the lion that prowl the area. Guided walks are also available around the lodge. Relax during the day in the plunge pool on the rolling front lawn, browse the library or watch the wildlife from the river vista deck. Bird watching during the warm summer months is particularly rewarding.

This gem of a lodge combines flawlessly with a Botswana safari circuit including the Okavango Delta, The Moremi and Chobe National Park. If you have the time, add on a stay at Victoria Falls to perfectly round it off. Whether travelling with your family, a group of friends, or are celebrating an anniversary or on your honeymoon with your loved one, Leroo La Tau will be a great add-on to your African safari adventure.

The hide is a great place to spend some time - you get to observe the animals coming down to the river and drink without them even knowing you are watching.

Trip was excellent, the staff were great, the guides were great too.
I highly recommend Savute, Moremi and Leroo La Tau lodge, really enjoyed the staff there. A very beautiful place.
I miss it already, I will go back, especially to Savute… a dream place.

The view from the room was best here. We saw hundreds of zebras from our deck when we arrived. We went on a day-long game drive and saw the baobab trees and salt pans, which was my favorite day of the safari.

We all agreed that the three camps we did (Xugana, Leroo La Tau, and Savute) offered a diverse perspective from a landscape and animal standpoint and were therefore a really nice complement. The order in which we did the camps was also great. Leroo La Tau gave us a taste for bigger land animals (and our guide Calvin went out of his way to show us a great time) and also a more arid scenery given our proximity to the Kalahari.

Great rooms and large, comfortable public areas. Very friendly service (on the first night we were the only guests so had lots of privacy and attention!). Fortunately the river had water which allowed for a great boat trip to view herds of elephants, wildebeest and zebra drinking up close. We had a very friendly guide although felt he was taking risks at times getting very close to the animals. Good food. Given the pricing, I think great value for money

On the positive experiences side, we were very happy with the effort made by the Leroo La Tau team to arrange a morning trip to Nxai Pan. That was a fabulous experience for us all. We enjoyed that a great deal.

Firstly, I can’t say enough about Leroo La Tau. We absolutely loved it and picked it as our favourite after visiting the other camps. The wildlife viewing was the best there, as was the guide/tracker, accommodations, facilities, and staff. I would definitely encourage more people to go there – it seems to be a hidden gem!

Leroo La Tau also offered extremely pleasant accommodations, good food and friendly staff. We also had the chilling experience of hearing a lion calling just across the river one night . We had a very good look at the area on this trip.

The three D&D camps were a good selection of options. Each unique and well run. We were able to get out to the Pans at Leroo because upon arrival we discovered that another couple who was staying for three nights was taking the option to go out there. We did not think we would get to do that, and yet we did… Yes, it’s a long 11 hour day (bless the ranger who took us!) but glad that we went. Seeing the Boteti with so much water in it now is incredible. It’s hard to imagine there was none for 28 years. Juan and Priscilla are doing a great job running this new entry to the D&D family. This was a good place to start in Botswana. I’m only sorry we were not able to spend more time in the blind there. It’s a wonderful location for sunrises on the river.
