The safari tents are located in a fringe of forest and positioned to offer wonderful views of both the waterhole and surrounding marsh.

Each tent is spacious and has a private veranda from which you can see the resident warthog and elephant as they come to drink. Tents are tastefully furnished to create a comfortable living space and each has a large bed and en suite bathroom with hot and cold running water.

    Other Room Types

Little Governor’s Camp offers one Honeymoon Suite. Although it offers exactly the same amount of space and comfort as the other tents, it is positioned on the furthest end, ensuring the most beautiful views and maximum amount of privacy.

    General Facilities

The private verandas of each tent offer a wonderful place to relax with a drink after a day of exploration. They offer incredible views of the waterhole and the variety of animals and birds that come here to drink.

Breakfast is typically served in the outdoor dining area, where you can enjoy views of the marsh and perhaps be entertained by a wandering elephant as you tuck into warm delicacies, croissants and fresh fruit.

Lunch is also served in the outdoor dining area, and consists of a buffet of pastas, salads and delicious grills. The evening meal is an à la carte dinner served in the romantic, candle-lit dining tent and is followed by drinks around the crackling camp fire. This camp offers very comfortable tents & have everything you need in them! One of my favorite memories was crossing the Mara river in a small boat to get to the lodge for check-in.

Little Governors Camp: Little Governors Camp is a gem. Wonderful staff from the boatmen to the security escorts to the waiters and bartenders. To sit and have breakfast or lunch and have so many different varieties of animals grazing in the marsh in front of you is quite a spectacular view. Henry the hippo, the elephant family with their playful babies, baboons, giraffes, the camp warthogs, the blue monkey that visited for lunch….I could go on and on. And for it being low season, at times there were so few guests it felt as if it was a private camp all to ourselves. I didn’t realize we’d have 3 game drives a day (I only expected 2) but I was happy to be out on the savannah looking for wildlife and enjoying the scenery. I really can’t say enough nice things about Little Governors. The only thing that was too much for me was the food! There was far too much food served! The quality was good but there was just too much. I learned a day into the stay to start choosing what I did want and decline what I could never have fit into my stomach. Had I eaten all that was included, someone would have had to carry me out of there.

We loved our time spend on Little Governors Camp! Everything went as expected. We were picked up at our hotel on time, and we arrived safely to the camp. Perhaps the info when we arrived to the camp were a bit “shortversioned”, but we found out about things alright.

The camp was perfect, and the wildlife view from the camp was amazing. Elephants went just right through several times. The guide was pleasant and had good knowledge. He took us out on long game drives, more than we were told in advance. The food was good, and the service was excellent. We would easily recommend this trip to anyone!

As for Little Governors we cannot fault it at all and so pleased we kept with our original thoughts. From top quality food, to a lovely clean and tidy tent, great service from all staff and a great location overlooking the watering hole. To have elephants, baboons, hippos and warthogs all walking through Little Governors (that’s all we saw – I am sure there was more) was incredible. As you see we feel in love with it all.

Everything you recommended was spot on. Flying not driving was a huge advantage. The Little Governors camp was fantastic. The staff was wonderful. Peter is a very warm and personable manager & made everyone feel welcome. Joseph our driver/guide was unbelievable at finding game and driving the muddy roads and fording the deep rivers as a result of the heavy rains. But that did not deter us a bit. The tents have everything you could ever want. Having so many animals in sight right outside the tent was magical. The food was good considering the conditions under which they have to prepare it. Thank you very much for your recommendations and expert advice.

The lodge was absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite parts about the lodge was crossing the Mara River to get to the lodge. The staff were very friendly. One day I was feeling sick, and the staff sent medicine and checked up on me later. The food was delicious – the best food i had during my 4 weeks in Kenya. They had a wide variety of food, all very tasty. The wildlife was amazing, despite not seeing the wildebeest crossing!

This was exactly what we had hoped for and the game watching was awe inspiring. We were able to see 4 of the Big 5 (missed the rhino) and usually were able to approach within 5 to 15 meters of our quarry. We saw a cheetah stalk and kill a Tommie right in front of our vehicle, no more than 15 meters away.
