With its camps set in Tanzania’s most iconic and rewarding wildlife destinations, Lemala is something of a safari specialist. Accommodation takes the form of grand tented camps where the emphasis is on authenticity. Guests enjoy the comforts of large and well-furnished suites, comfortable lounges and fine food and wine. And thanks to Lemala’s careful positioning of its camps, guests can enjoy fantastic game viewing at any time of year - at no place more than the Serengeti.
Four of Lemala’s six camps lie in the Serengeti, each witness to a different stage of the Great Migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest. Kuria Hills, one of the finest camps in the entire Serengeti, is set close to the Mara River in the northern Serengeti, making it ideal for the Migration’s June to August river crossings. Mara Tented Camp is a mobile camp, setting up in temporary Migration hotspots and offering a classic candles-and-canvas ambience. Ewanjan Tented Camp lies on the predator-rich grasslands of the central Serengeti – perfect for the April to June and November to January chapters of the Migration. Ndutu Tented Camp covers the southern Serengeti where, between December and March, tens of thousands of wildebeest calves are born.
Lemala’s other camps have equally advantageous settings: Ngorongoro Tented Camp sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, hidden in an acacia forest.
The game viewing experience at Lemala camps is usually enjoyed from the vantage of a specially designed vehicle. Lemala Walking Safaris, however, promise a very different view. Based in the northern Serengeti and focusing on the Mara River environment, Lemala Walking Safaris offer guests the chance to explore a pristine wilderness on foot in the company of expert guides and armed rangers.
