Lemala Mara Camp Northern Serengeti
Lemala Mara, a mobile tented safari camp, is an ideal accommodation from which to witness the Wildebeest Migration as it moves around the Serengeti. Enjoy the camp’s privacy and intimacy, personal attention from the staff and of course excellent game viewing. Following the migration route, the camp is located in a secluded area in Ndutu between December and March, then moves to the Mara River area in the northern Serengeti between June and October.
Set under shady trees in the heart of the northern Serengeti’s best game viewing area, Lemala Mara provides front-row seats as the wildebeest and zebra herds make their way to the crocodile-infested Mara River. It is situated close to the river’s popular crossing points, yet tucked away from the busy roads – which means less passing vehicles and more privacy. You will also have access to additional river crossing points where there are less crowds and better viewing opportunities. The camp’s tents are spread out far enough to offer guests privacy and spectacular views of the northern Serengeti plains.
Lemala Mara is a great option for families or groups of friends travelling together as well as couples and individuals hoping for fantastic safari experiences up close to the herds of the Great Migration in Tanzania’s flagship and storied reserve, the Serengeti National Park.

Each tent is elevated on wooden platforms, with polished hardwood floors, cosy furnishings, a dressing room, two queen-size beds, and en-suite bathroom with flush toilet and safari-style shower. For families travelling with young children, the standard tent can be booked as a family tent with an extra bed provided.
Perfect for friends or family travelling together, this room type has two spacious bedrooms on either side of a comfortable shared lounge in which you can enjoy sundowners or morning coffee together. Each bedroom is similar to the standard tent with two queen-size beds and an en-suite bathroom.
The communal area located in the mess tent includes a central bar for refreshment and plush leather sofas for relaxation after an exciting day of game viewing. Drinks can, and indeed should, be enjoyed out by the campfire as you watch the sunset and swop stories with your fellow guests.
Guests have the opportunity to add on a hot air balloon safari to witness the serengeti plains from a unique perspective. Float serenely over the wild below before touching down to a scrumptious bush breakfast.
Younger children can join in on the fun with the Lemala Cubs kids programme where they can learn about and experience the magic of the African bush in a fun and educational way while of course giving parents a chance to relax.

I have to give a huge acknowledgement to our guide Eugene. He is a man who loves what he does, loves being a guide and loves the Serengeti. What a privilege to spend three days with him. For our last morning, the camp had arranged for a driver to take us to the airstrip in the morning. We asked Eugene if we could go on another game drive instead of sleeping in. He arranged with the camp for a driver to take bags to the airport and we went on another game drive with the couple that had been on our game drive the day before and who Eugene was taking to another part of the Serengeti. The camp and Eugene were so accommodating.
Lemala Serengeti – Overall a nice, clean camp. This camp was worth the additional cost that we had to pay. We were very happy that we had made the move to the Central Serengeti as this surrounding area was not up in flames and the wildlife was in greater abundance. Also, the tents felt more spacious and cooler nights made it easier to sleep.
What an amazing holiday – thank you! I can’t believe the animals we saw. The migration was in the Masai Mara & we saw an unbelievable amount of animals in 2 days. We even sat & watched 2 lionesses with 6 cubs (about 1 month old) for an hour. We also saw a leopard in a tree with its kill.
