Lemala Ngorongoro
Set close to the Crater rim in an area rarely used by other vehicles but about five to ten minutes from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Crater floor, Lemala Ngorongoro not only offers an intimate and secluded experience but also delivers a great safari experience. The communal areas have been designed to make you feel at home: lounge around on large sofas, choose a book from the book corner, or just admire the beauty of the area.
Guests are encouraged to dine communally with a nature expert and there’ll be plenty to talk about: guests can experience amazing crater floor game viewing all year round in one of the best Big 5 reserves in East Africa. And after your drive, take a walk with a Maasai warrior in the forests that cover the rim of the crater to get stunning views and a chance to spot a different set of animals.
Lemala Ngorongoro is a fantastic option for groups of friends or family travelling together as well as couples and individuals hoping for thrilling Big-5 safari experiences in an iconic destination. The camp’s proximity to the lesser-used Lemala crater access road allows for a crucial ten to fifteen minutes on the crater floor before the crowds, making it a great option for keen photographers searching for the best light conditions at uncrowded sightings.

What a unique and special place. The location of the camp was perfect and the setting was spectacular, set amongst a forest of Acacia trees. I just loved it. I will never forget the “clomp, clomp” of a zebra trotting by our tent in the very early morning hours. We really enjoyed our guide Hassan; what a bright, articulate young man. We were amongst the first jeeps in the crater in the morning and after a full day (almost 9 hours), Hassan had showed us basically the whole crater and so much wildlife.
Very good. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Ngorongoro was terrific, especially Praygod our tent attendant.
Lemala Ngorongoro was the BEST surprise. The camp was SO GORGEOUS. The people were so inviting and amazing!!! We positively loved our game driver, Frank, but the camp butler, Alois, is officially our favorite person from the trip
At Lemala in Ngorongoro Crater, there was a gentleman (Isaya Runguna) that took our boys once we arrived and played football with him for what felt like hours and my husband and I enjoyed the quiet moments. Our boys are still asking when we can go back and play with him.
The food was amazing everywhere and you were right, I think we definitely ate more than we needed so having sufficient food wasn’t a concern. It’s definitely a unique feeling being in the middle of the Serengetti being fed what seems like a Michelin star rated meal and presentation.
