Set in the northwest of Zimbabwe's popular Hwange National Park, Deka Camp offers eco-luxury at its finest. The camp prides itself on its eco-conscious philosophy, relying on solar energy, water-heating panels, Bio Plants and forgoing energy-heavy appliances. And with no permanent fixtures, the campsite can be completely rehabilitated in 18 months.

Situated on its own private concession, Deka offers night drives, walking safaris and game drives in one of Southern Africa's wildest regions. Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest natural reserve and is home to approximately 50 000 elephants. It's also called home by one of the largest populations of endangered African wild dog. You're also almost sure to spot cheetah, leopard and lion while exploring the popular national park.

Luxury Tent

Deka’s eight luxury units combine the style of a classic safari tent with the architectural structure of a traditional African homestead. Constructed out of canvas, local rock and covered by a thatch roof, each unit encapsulates all the elements one would associate with an African safari. Not to worry, though, none of the creature comforts you’ve become accustomed to have been foregone.

Although small, the luxury tent meets every need. The modern bathroom is fitted with hot and cold running water, and shower. Take time to appreciate the bush in the relaxation area complete with Africa-inspired furnishings or get an peaceful night’s sleep under the breathable natural linen on the comfortable bed. Or while away the afternoon on your tent’s private patio, which offers wonderful views of the surrounding wilderness.

General Facilities

Game drives are a thrilling but tiring experience. Unwind after a day of spotting wildlife with a dip in the plunge pool or connect with loved ones back home in the dedicated Wi-Fi zone. Swap stories of the day's adventure on the large tented deck area of the main building before grabbing chilled drink at the bar and gathering around the fire pit to enjoy a cosy night of stargazing.

Deka Lodge uses energy-efficient fridges, along with coal cold rooms and cellars to store heat-sensitive items. The eco-friendly kitchen produces high quality meals while keeping its eco-footprint light – ensuring guests enjoy a scrumptious meal with zero guilt. Meals can be taken inside the thatch dining area or outside on the oversized tented deck. Gourmet picnics in the bush are available for those who don't want to miss any of the action while on game drives.
