Duba Plains Camp
Built on an island in the northern reaches of Botswana's Okavango Delta, this intimate and remote tented camp is located within a 77, 000-acre private reserve that is generally only accessible by air. Surrounded by game-rich grasslands and seasonal floodplains, the camp has just five traditional tented suites as well as 2-bedroom suite perfect for families. The thousands of buffalo that inhabit this area are hunted by resident lion prides that are unusually active during the daytime. Duba lions are up to 15 percent larger than other lions and guests are able to observe this fascinating predator-prey interaction with kills witnessed fairly regularly during game drives.
But 4×4 game drives are not the only way to encounter the astonishing wildlife at Duba Plains Camp. Walking safaris enable you to track animals on foot, putting you in touch with the smaller creatures often missed from the vehicle. When water levels permit, you can paddle the reserve's glistening waterways and channels on a mokoro – a traditional dug-out canoe – or enjoy a boat-based game viewing. This dynamic camp encourages guests to dictate their own game-viewing schedule. Some days you might want to spend hours following a single pride of lions and other days roam the plains after a large herd of red lechwe. Sumptuous picnics are packed for guests to take along on extended safaris and food can even be delivered to vehicles out in the bush so that an exhilarating lion hunt is not missed.
Duba Plains Camp is ideal for serious game viewers and discerning families looking for an intimate, exclusive safari experience with a fairly good chance of witnessing lion-buffalo interactions.

Duba Plains was fantastic! The diverse landscape and terrain was special and we had an outstanding guide named Rueben. We could hear our guide clearly as the vehicle was more intimate. We saw loads of wildlife and we were lucky enough to witness a lion kill of a Cape Buffalo on the first morning. We also saw numerous sets of lion cubs throughout our stay. We enjoyed the camp, and the staff were super friendly. Food was very good. Duba was definitely a highlight for us.
