Great Tsau Hills
Great Tsau Hills transports you to the ‘golden age' of classic safari living on 40,000 hectares of unfenced private Kalahari concession. Walk along ancient footpaths in Southern Africa's largest and most remote reserve, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, guided by experts. Home to the San Bushmen, the region holds a rich history and a special place in the storied origins of mankind.
From May to September, during the drier season, cooler days make it ideal for walking safaris. Although the rainy ‘green season' is hotter, this is when you'll spot springbok dotting the plains, greedily chewing on freshly grown grasses. It is also calving season, as the Kalahari welcomes hundreds of newborns taking their first breaths.
As an exclusive-use location in the reserve, Great Tsau Hills is ideal for families or groups of friends seeking a more private and flexible safari experience. Children of all ages are welcomed, however, access to certain activities is age dependent. You'll explore uncharted corners of the reserve using traditional means, such as immersive bush walks, as well as day and night game drives. For the particularly adventurous traveller, an eBike safari brings freedom and exploration to new heights.

Nestled among acacia bushes along the sweeping Kalahari plains, you’ll find these modest Meru-style canopy tents. You’ll appreciate Great Tsau’s eco-conscious approach, with water-saving bucket showers and bathroom facilities.
An outside seating area invites you to gaze upon the rising sun, as vibrant oranges kiss the desert plains while you sip on a hot cup of coffee. A comfortable bed, equipped with a cascading mosquito net, ensures an undisturbed night’s rest at the end of each day.
As a semi-permanent camp, a large swimming pool propped up on a deck against the hillside is a luxurious addition. It is a great spot for you to cool off after a sweat-building bush walk. Children of all ages are welcomed. Although access to certain activities is restricted, there is a delightful variety of children's activities to keep them busy, including partaking in their very own bush Olympics or learning the ancient art of wildlife tracking.
Throughout your stay, you'll have access to a game vehicle and ranger who will teach you all about the secrets of the bush. You can also try out an exciting eBike safari for a taste of wildlife freedom. There is also the option to book extra activities at an additional charge.
