Kanana
Taking its name from the Setswana word meaning ‘paradise’, Kanana is a luxury camp set in the south west of Botswana’s Okavango Delta along the Xudum river. With a total of only 8-tented suites and one family tent, Kanana offers an intimate and exclusive stay in this magnificent location.
Activities at Kanana include morning and afternoon game drives to see the plentiful wildlife of the region, as well as guided nature walks on the many islands. Take to the waterways and channels on a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) or in a powerboat for a different game-viewing experience.

The spacious meru-style tents at Kanana Lodge are elevated on teak decks and offer some of the best views of the Okavango Delta. The suites are furnished with twin beds and private en suite bathrooms, as well as individual verandas. Hot and cold running water, a shower, and flush toilets are standard features.
The Family Tent at Kanana offers two spacious bedrooms connected by an en-suite bathroom. Positioned for both privacy and convenience, the tent is just a short stroll from the main camp while still feeling delightfully secluded. Generous in size, it comfortably sleeps up to five guests, welcoming children aged six and older to experience the magic of the Okavango Delta under canvas — where family time comes with the soundtrack of the wild.
Spend an unforgettable night beneath the stars on Kanana’s Sleepout Deck — a unique two-level hideaway not too far from a waterhole. Drift off on the upper deck in a cosy bed draped with a fine mesh mosquito net, surrounded by the sounds of the Delta. A level below, you’ll find a private bathroom with a shower, vanity, and toilet. After dinner, you’ll be taken out to this special perch in the wild, where you’ll fall asleep to the calls of the bush and wake to the sight of wildlife wandering past at dawn.
Between exciting activities, escape the heat of the afternoon with a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, or simply relax on your private deck and take in the spectacular surroundings. Water-based activities are seasonal and subject to water levels, and include catch-and-release fishing. Families with children can book a private vehicle to enjoy specialised family safaris. Keep your outfits fresh with the lodge’s laundry service and stay connected with a basic Wi-Fi connection.

Guests can enjoy wholesome meals at a long table in the open-sided dining area of the central lodge area. Bush breakfasts and sundowners are often incorporated into the sightseeing adventures and an outdoor seating area with a fire pit is the usual gathering place for evening sundowners.
With just eight tents, it's wonderfully intimate, so the staff quickly feel like family. The mokoro rides here are pure magic, but what really makes Kanana special is the sleepout deck — drifting off under a blanket of stars while hippos grunt in the distance? Unbeatable. If you want the Delta without the crowds, Kanana's your place.

Kanana Lodge was first class; staff were friendly and helpful and our guide, Sue, was amazing! The chef prepared something separate for Grace for every meal and every snack. For us, this was exceptional. I would recommend them without hesitation.
This is such a special place in the Okavango Delta with a superb location for water and land based game viewing activities. I love the small intimate feel of the camp and that it's so remote, as well as the very friendly and efficient staff
Kanana was the overall favourite part of our trip! Fantastic staff, rooms, and food. We enjoyed the Mokoro and the game viewing.
The sleep-out at Kanana Lodge was absolutely terrific.
It was great and the staff and food was just fantastic.
