Overview of KasKaz Mara Camp

Tanzania, Serengeti

KasKaz Mara Camp invites you to experience Africa's great Serengeti and its incredible wildlife on a tented safari near the game-rich Mara River. These northern reaches of Tanzania are where the annual Wildebeest Migration crosses from the depleted plains of Serengeti National Park to the lush grasslands of the Masai Mara. In season, you can witness this grand spectacle as hundreds, if not thousands, of wildebeest, zebra and other ungulates brave the Mara River in search of greener pastures beyond. Resident big game can be sighted throughout the year including iconic species like lion, rhino, wild dog, elephant, hippo and crocodile.

In addition to game drives, nature walks at KasKaz allow you to appreciate the beauty of smaller wildlife or the thrill of tracking big game on foot, and hot-air balloon rides are an extraordinary way of viewing the great plains of East Africa. While days are spent exploring golden savannahs, evenings are reserved for tranquil sunset drinks, candlelit dining, sharing ‘bush stories' around the fire and listening to the quiet sounds of the African night. KasKaz Mara Camp is the perfect pairing to your authentic Serengeti safari, and lavishly-furnished tented suites are generously sized with roll-up canvas sides that showcase the beautiful surrounds.

I did want to let you know that the Nasikia Kaskaz Mara Camp (Serengeti) was amazing – definitely our favorite part of the trip. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was the best we had on our trip and the guides we had (one was in training) were amazing. I knew we would be able to see animals, but they made the experience so much more than that. My son, Kyle, is also a bird watcher and the guide we had, Iddy, was beyond helpful in finding birds for us to see and being able to identify them. He could also remember which ones we had seen already and which were new to us (we saw over 100). I know not everyone would be interested in birds, but he made sure we saw what interested us. We also saw so many mammals, lions eating their kill, baby leopards and lions, etc. Both guides picked up on our sense of humor and joined in our fun.

Also, Iddy (our guide), arranged for us to meet and have our photo taken with a Maasai group that was there for another couple’s renewal of vows ceremony. I had mentioned to him that I read an autobiography of a Maasi Warrior and was very interested in that culture, so he took it upon himself to set this up for us.

Basically, at that camp, I felt like they went out of their way to understand what was important to us and then did everything they could to provide it.
