Overview of Le Quartier Français

South Africa, Franschhoek, Cape Winelands

Set in the heart of Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands, Le Quartier Français is a charming boutique hotel centrally located on the village’s main street and close to its many boutiques and galleries. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens with charming and tasteful rooms. You can relax in the gardens or at the pool before pampering yourself with aroma-skincare treatments at the B.gorgeous hair, beauty and shopping emporium. There is a private cinema with soft leather chairs and back-row couches for rainy days or relaxing evening.

Or pop over to Protégé to sample the more casual, flavour-packed small plates menu packed with fresh, seasonal ingredients that showcase the best of what this region has to offer.

Dining

Le Quartier boasts two of the best restaurants in South Africa's Western Cape region. Protégé offers an informal and comfortable approach to the typical high-end fare. Under the guidance of celebrity chef Scot Kirton, stylish small plates menus and trendy cuisine with Asian, French and Italian influences are created by a series of talented young chefs. Dine al fresco or see the masters at work in the central show kitchen.

Épice, which took the title of Best New Restaurant in Africa in the inaugural World Culinary Awards, is a more formal affair. Menu items consist of refined home-style dishes that revolve around spices, with flavours inspired by the team’s travels to India, Spain, Japan, Mexico and the USA.

Staying in Franschoek was probably my favourite part of the trip. I just couldn't fault this place – it was stunning. It was an oasis of calm when sat by the pool but then equally just a short walk to the restaurants etc.
I had my best ever check-in experience at this place; they came out, greeted us, walked us to our room, showed us round and left us. It took me a minute to realise I hadn't signed any papers, no passports or credits cards had been asked for – it was just so….'slick'. Probably the best breakfast of our trip was here – and that's saying something! You got the felling that nothing was too much trouble for the staff at this place.
Amazing huge room overlooking the pool as well – I don't know why anyone would bother to pay extra and stay in the exclusive ‘Four Quarters' section because the main section was just as private and arguably more attractive.
