The location for Lush Private Lodge revealed itself with the appearance of a buffalo herd, and so the owners took it as a sign and laid the foundations for this contemporary lodge on the exact spot. Tucked into a wooded hillside, this sheltered lodge is located in Black Rhino Reserve, a private concession in the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park. A couple of hours' drive from Johannesburg and a stone's throw from the renowned Sun City resort, Pilanesberg is home to over 7 000 animals – including the Big Five, over 350 bird species, rare black rhino and African wild dog.

Guests can expect superb Italian family-style hospitality and a private, unique safari experience at Lush. Enjoy twice-daily game drives in the exclusive-use concession as well as the national park, with scenic stops for refreshments. Being in a private reserve means that you can go on guided bush walks to get even closer to nature. Optional activities like hot-air ballooning and a round of golf on one of Sun City's championship courses can also be arranged. Or simply unwind with a good book or board game in the lodge's comfortable bar lounge.

Suite

Lush’s luxurious suites are distinguished only by their views: bush-facing or mountain-facing. These spacious units are private retreats interspersed between trees and designed with absolute comfort in mind. Extended fold-back glass doors open onto private decks equipped with splash pools, cushioned loungers and 2-seater tables. Bathrooms are en suite and feature large freestanding bathtubs and walk-in rain showers.

General Facilities

Lush's minimalist décor and natural finishes complement the gorgeous surroundings and awe-inspiring views. Sip on a cup of the lodge's own brand of speciality coffee or a glass of fine wine in the inviting bar lounge. During the cooler months, cosy up beside one of the fireplaces in the open-plan dining and lounge area.

    I was blown away with the lodge's attention to detail, wonderful design and architecture, personalised service and the mouth-watering cuisine. We were fortunate enough to experience a delicious lunch at Lush which comprised of a buffet of beautiful meats, a variety of homemade breads and fresh salads options. A good element is that they are accommodating with meal times so guests can choose when they prefer to eat. Whether dining on the deck or enjoying a special Boma dinner, I trust guests will love it as much as I did.

    The suites are luxurious and spacious, their position allows for guests to feel secluded yet safe in the bush. Everything from the enormous King-size beds, beautiful baths and classy Smeg appliances to the outside showers, private plunge pool and decks overlooking the reserve is absolute bliss.
